We were excited, along with our industry favs, to be asked to produce an editorial photoshoot for Southern New England Weddings‘ newest destination edition. Shot inside Belle Mer in Newport, Rhode Island, we designed a modern, sexy, city style wedding in shades of white, ivory and gold. It was a true creative collaboration between ourselves, Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the shore, Tony Palmieri and Cat of Datura: A Modern Garden, Dana Bartone & Company, A Little Imagination Cakes, Coral Pheasant Design + Stationery and the talented photographer Carla Ten Eyck.

You can purchase cancellation insurance from a company called WedSafe, which has several policies available at different price points based on your level of spending. For such a small investment, it’s worth every penny. In this business, we always say you have to have a plan B for everything because there are some things beyond your control.

This past weekend we had an amazing wedding in Old Lyme, Connecticut at the Florence Griswold Museum. Our clients hired us only a few months ago to plan and design their spectacular wedding– and at the very last hour on Friday afternoon, we made the call to take a 5 pm ceremony and start it at noon. I wanted to also thank our spectacular team of vendors who really pulled it together to make this happen. When faced with tough and uncomfortable situations, it’s truly a measure of someone’s character when they rise to the occasion and due whats necessary. We are so fortunate to have been asked again to produce an editorial shoot for The Connecticut Bride Magazine. Inspired by the city of Hartford, we shot in several iconic locations: The Old State House, Gershon Fox Room, Society Room, City Hall, Mark Twain House, and Elizabeth Park. Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the shore styled six amazing looks featuring the world renowned and Connecticut based designer, Modern Trousseau. Tony from Datura: A Modern Garden created gorgeous bouquets inspired by each look, and Dana Bartone & Co. styled all the fabulous hair and makeup. I’m so excited to share with you two major features in the newest issue of Connecticut Bride! Our amazing June wedding of Danielle and John, which was a true collaboration of the entire Jubilee team, made the cover of their Spring / Summer 2011 issue. This is the FIRST time Connecticut Bride has ever put a real bride on the cover! A testimate to the beautiful spirits and love shared between Danielle and John, and the beautiful photography from our dear friend, Carla Ten Eyck. Danielle’s gorgeous beauty was by Jennie Fresa, with fashion styling by The White Dress by the Shore. And that gorgeous, GORGEOUS bouquet? Elisabeth from BLUSH! You can see a recap of her wedding in our galleries, or, pick up the magazine to read their story!

Equally as exciting is the fashion spread Connecticut Bride asked our team to do for their magazine. We had been DYING to do a midsummer night’s dream styled shoot and thought this would be the perfect outlet. It was a bit challenging in the late fall to pull off, but so easy on the beautiful property at Lord Thompson Manor. We designed a shoot in rich colors of pink, green and purple and brought the mid summer by way of gorgeous flowers, garlands, and details. You’ll have to buy the magazine to see the images, but in the meantime, here are some fun behind-the-scenes! For the 4-page fashion shoot in Connecticut Bride our team was comprised of the best of the best! These behind-the-scenes shots are courtesy of Carla, Jazzy and Alison!

When our team got together and started to collaborate on our inspirational wedding photoshoots I had always dreamed of the day we’d be sharing with you our work in print. Never did we think that our work would be featured in 11 (that’s right, ELEVEN!) beautiful, full bleed pages of nothing but gorgeous images– but that we would also have our work on the cover of a magazine! I am so excited for our talented team, whose hard work and creativity are the reason for this post–

Members of our team (myself included) would tell you that we really do this for the love of it– the love of creating, collaborating, working with our friends, being inspired, having fun. That’s the truth of it and it’s not a lie. It’s the reason why we do all these fun shoots, and because of that, it’s even more sweeter to have our work featured.

Our shoot took place at the gorgeous and world renowned Mayflower Inn & Spa which is, by the way, one of the most beautiful, amazing, and gorgeous places to have a wedding. We were inspired by winter, the color blue, toile, and interesting textures like birch, evergreen, yarn, and vintage paper. Tony created several amazing bouquets– one of which has been a steady contender for my all time favorite bouquet. Ever. And it’s featured!  Beth created a preppy look that my heart continues to lust after– gorgeous dress, cardigan, sparkly belt, layered pearls. Yum! Posh Paperie sent me a box of THE MOST gorgeous creations– paper pinwheels made of vintage music sheets, die cut “lace” paper embellishments, menu’s that open with a surprise hidden inside, and the prettiest invitation you ever did see (also featured!). Lovely Lollies delivered  delicious dessert table that we styled– filled with peppermint patties, homemade marshmallows, candy can sticks, french macarons, and SO much more.

Our team compiled two beautiful and inspiration stories, one of which you can see in the new issue of Gala Weddings (which is on newsstands now– I promise– I saw it in Big Y!). You can see our behind-the-scenes post from 2009 with stories behind some of the images that made it into the magazine. Carla also posted her perspective this morning– and Tony is sharing his gorgeous bouquet work with you on his blog today from the shoot.

When I started off with this company, I was the intern. Like anyone, I was somewhat terrified because I wanted to impress Candice and all of her industry friends. I wanted them to see what I knew–I had found something that I loved to do and immerse myself in. Not many people are lucky enough to find that. I wanted to stay late, I wanted to do whatever I could do to help! I craved (and still do) the feelings of oncoming carpal tunnel from the endless emails sent out; I longed for the sore feet from spending hours in heels when working a ceremony and reception. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning when I’m tying ribbon, cutting and folding menus, alphabetizing escort cards, and rearranging chairs. Rereading this, I might be a bit nuts, but this is what floats my boat!

Quite frankly, I love weddings! I wanted to work more hours than existed in my day just to learn the ins and outs. I knew I had someone to model after and was learning from someone amazing, not just because she dresses so fashionably, is witty, and listens to Michael Jackson, but because she knows what she’s talking about. Candice is savvy and smart, so learning from her is a privilege! And let me tell you, the people she is friends with in this industry are AMAZING!!! I am so fortunate to know them and work with them! Even more so, I’ve been to new places with them.

Back in January, we traveled to New Orleans for a photoshoot! Whenever I hear a jazz band or watch the Saints (yes, I actually tuned into football more after this trip), I go back to the streets of NOLA and relive our shoot! In April we went to Costa Rica, which luckily enough we just returned from a few weeks ago! In April, we fought off lizards and humid driven hair–this time it was the raccoons going after any food we had and the pretty jewels Beth brought with her. They were full AND fashionable by the end of that day! Check out some behind the scenes here as well as pictures from shootsI and II! Looking at those pictures from our photoshoots, I’m reminded every time why I love this job so much. It’s not just meeting unique couples and hearing their story, but the creativity you explore and people you meet along the way.

In between all of those trips, we had weddings with some of the most beautiful couples with the coolest families and the most glamorous of days. Amanda and Brian, Allie and Jacob, Jessica and Frank, Danielle and John, Rose and David, Jill and Joseph, Saryn and David, Beth and Marco, Katherine and John, Anna and Matt, Sally and Oliver, Kelly and Paolo, Jennifer and Clark, Nichole and Tim, and Melissa and Peter–thank you for allowing me to be a part of each of your weddings. They were all so fun and so special! I wish you all every happiness and love that was present on your day!

As for now, well, I’m beyond thrilled to be able to share with all of you the weddings from 2011. I’m excited for our couples and all of the details unfolding for their day!! I hope to be able to bring you all stories about what we’re doing in between and all the great people we get the chance to work with! If this year was any indication as to what next year will bring, well then I’m waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square now! Hope everyone has a great holiday season!

I wanted to share with you the gorgeous display in our studio featuring an amazing linen company we’ve partnered with: Resource One, Inc. Our gorgeous “Summer’s Dream” inspired tablescape features Olivewood Bark colored crinkle taffeta with an AMAZING Olive Floral Organza Overlay on the table and the chiavari chair backs. The overlays have hand stitched flowers and petals with bead detailing cascading down into large pools onto the floor. The linen is absolutely spectacular! The tablescape is finished off with luxurious Olivewood Taffeta napkins. The tablescape features beautiful and colorful china from Party Rental Ltd., a Violet Pepple Charger, Floral Dinner Plate, and Pink Dotted Dessert Plate. Gorgeous menu cards with a custom crepe paper flower and butterfly place cards are designed by our talented friends at Posh Paperie. In early September we launched our brand new studio and showroom space in the prettiest of towns: Cheshire, Connecticut. We are now located at the historic Watch Factory Shoppes right across from The Funky Monkey Cafe (which has some of the best salads, btw) and A Dance Class (where we have the pleasure of watching ballerina’s pirouette while we’re working late). We now share our space with the ever talented designers, Tony and Cat of Datura: A Modern Garden.Big thanks to our friends Carla Ten Eyck and Robert & Kathleen Trenske for the beautiful canvas of our work that graces our walls!

Our studio showroom space has incredible options for our clients and customers looking to rent something special for their next event. Everything in our 1,000 square foot showroom (sans our fabulous horse hair antique couch!) is available for rent. Everything! Chandelier? Available. Gorgeous mirrored table? Available! All that pretty colorful china? Available!!

We are currently representing amazing rental companies: Luxe Event Rentals, Party Rental Ltd., La Tavola Linen and Resource One Inc. Many months ago I came across the image above and was instantly inspired! I knew that I could plan and design an event around that entire dress, and this simple picture– I just needed the right outlet! Today we’re up SUPER early to head into New York City to pull together a shoot for Robert and Kathleen Photographer’s Taking off {NYC} Seminar. We’ll be working with extraordinary talent and friends, The White Dress by the Shore, Datura: A Modern Garden, Jennie Fresa Beauty Library, and Ana Parzych Custom Cakes. I’m excited to officially announce the newest full time member of our team, associate planner Diana Chouinard! Most of our 2010 and 2011 clients already know Diana– she’s been working at Jubilee Events since October of 2009 as my right hand (w0)man, assistant, and now, associate planner. She and I have had the opportunity to travel all of the world together and she has assisted me on nearly all of our amazing weddings and events. To know Diana is to know that she loves three things: desserts (#1), Derek Jeter (#2) and the Spice Girls (huh? well, I love her anyway!). She is overly energetic, extremely passionate about what she does, incredible smart, talented, and helpful. Sometimes I wonder how we existed without her! I have learned so much from her this past year and she continues to inspire me– and everyone that surrounds her!

Diana is meeting with clients for 2010 and 2011 events, working both Month of Coordination and enhanced services. You’ll be hearing a lot more from her on here as she blogs about her own events, thoughts, and inspiration! I wanted to congratulate our friends and neighbors, Ana and Garry from Ana’s Custom Cakes, for their recent feature on The Today Show’s “The Today Show Throw’s a Wedding.” Ana’s gorgeous cake was voted as the best among those designed for this amazing wedding by fans and peers. The cake she created was truly stunning, with four tiers of alternating flavors, adorned with hand-made sugar flowers. Just gorgeous!

I’m really excited to announce that we are moving our studio from Danbury to Cheshire– and will set up our new office and showroom at the Watch Factory Shoppes! We’re on modified hours next week as we vacation for our first year anniversary (!) and also prepare our new space to be moved into. Our roomies Raw Photo Design and Vantage Point Films are staying in the Danbury office as we branch out on our own. I can’t wait to show you all our new digs! What an exciting time.

I’ve been encouraged to develop a business blog to share thoughts, ideas, concerns, and musings on business. I’m really excited to launch my new website, CandiceCoppola.com. The motivation behind this new blog came from a colleague of mine, Christine Toner, who signs every post on her creative blog with… “Ideas take shape when they are shared.” I felt inspired by that, so much so that it’s my new motto that I’m trying to live by– in business and personally!

I am by no means an expert… I feel as though I have so much to still learn from others. But I also think I have a few pieces of knowledge to give. So, please, check out my new business blog!!

New years day might be my favorite day of the year. It is filled with so much excitement, creativity, hope, and enthusiasm for the future. I don’t believe in resolutions and can’t think of one resolution I made in many years past (while I still believed in them) that I actually kept. Instead, I believe in being honest and setting goals. I have so many goals for 2010 and as I began to put them to paper I realized that there are so many things in my life that I have accomplished—yet so much still to do. I hope that I can achieve most, if not all of my goals in this new year. If not, I guess that’s what 2011 is for, right?

2010 is going to be a great year – for some of you, it’ll be the year find love. For others, it’ll be the year you get married or start your own family. You might change careers, buy a new house, take a leap of faith, reconnect with an old friend or make new ones, start your own business, or close a chapter in your history. My advice to you is to keep the excitement you feel today… for a new beginning… all throughout the year. I firmly believe that 2010 will be YOUR year—but what do you plan to do to make that happen?

My husband (!) came home on Friday and told me all about the rant he heard on early morning radio about a personality who was REALLY annoyed that he had to attend a wedding during the epic baseball playoffs (yankees vs. redsocks, particularly). I am not a baseball fan but I can tell you that if I were invited to a wedding during the playoffs and my GMEN were playing — I wouldn’t be a happy camper either! Matter of fact, I might not even go!

Which leads me to the point and motivation behind this post: consider seasons and sports when choosing your date. I’m not talking about average games, but the BIG ones: Olympics, college bowls, final four, baseball playoffs, football playoffs and obviously the super bowl. You don’t want a groomsmen smuggling in a laptop to tap into the venue’s wireless network so they can download a live feed of the game in the lobby — because it WILL happen — and it WILL take away from your amazing event!

The Studio is a relaxed planning atmosphere where we sit down with our couples to design and plan their wedding. It is a great day here in Connecticut – same sex couples can now legally marry! Town clerks all across the state will be buzzing with a ton of love and celebration.
