While our ceremony was special (Keith’s parents were married at the same church, and the priest married my parents years earlier) I didn’t neglect the very important party that followed. I picked The New Haven Lawn Club even before I stepped foot inside. I knew from looking at pictures that it was everything I wanted in a wedding venue. Those chandeliers! The black and white floors! The tiled mirror in the ballroom! It was the second time in my life that I experienced love at first sight.

The venue set the tone for the design: Elegant and romantic with vintage touches. I settled on a color palette of blush, apricot and champagne. I wanted the room to be decorated in soft, monochromatic tones and accented with gold and ivory. Elisabeth from Blush Floral Design created the beyond gorgeous florals for the day. She used lots of lush blooms like garden roses, peonies, ranunculus and sweet peas. I wanted to display the centerpieces in something different so my mom and I collected vintage cut glass cake stands. We found them in all shapes and sizes and I loved how they made each table look just a little bit different.

Keith and I knew we didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, so we decided to have eight! Sweet Maria’s in Waterbury helped us bring our vision to life–a cake buffet featuring confections in flavors like Mexican Hot Chocolate, Orange Creamsicle and Heath Bar Crunch. This quickly became my favorite detail from the day. Not only did it look pretty, our guests loved having so many flavors to choose from.

While our wedding design evolved mostly around cake, our lives are really ruled by pizza–mainly pizza from Pepe’s in New Haven. Since it’s our favorite Friday night dinner we decided it was the perfect location for pictures. Cynthia Brown got some amazing shots of us outside our favorite restaurant and throughout the entire day. Have a look!

This past fall we had the fun opportunity to co-create and design a fun, summer editorial shoot for The Connecticut Bride Magazine. Having just come off our fashion obsession of nautical glam, we worked with our creative counterparts to design this fun, preppy, and dressed up version of nautical on the Connecticut shoreline! We worked in your traditional seaside color story– blues, reds and yellows– with a bit of sparkle, lots of stripes and a little kate spade. What I’m also excited about is half my summer accessories got incorporated into this gorgeousness! I just love this first look– colored shoes, colored jewels, those lockets (! which we all immediately purchased on the spot from Aquinnah and all now proudly own, and hope to not wear all at the same time, accidentally), striped puffy sleeved top, sparkly anchor bag…. love it all! The paper suite that Nichole from Coral Pheasant put together was spectacular. Sign. Me. Up. It was so well executed with so many fun little surprises– which I feel like is her signature.

One of my favorite parts of this wedding was that it wasn’t just a celebration of a new family unit, but it also honored their history. The couple was married on the lush lawn overlooking the river surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their ceremony was deeply personal as their parents and siblings stood by them underneath the Chuppah, which housed them with a family prayer shawl. Guests made their way up to the cocktail hour, where they were greeted by one of the most cheerful and entertaining A Capella groups, the LarKings. Guests were quick to find their seats as the sweet candy apple escort cards were too good not to touch!

The inside of the barn was adorned with garden lights strung across their beams coupled with long billows of fabric to give it a romantic look. Azalea Floral Design created a magnificent look with the centerpieces with branches extended from tall vases filled with apples. The walls held mason jars and old glass containers that Danielle’s mom wrapped in various colored tissue paper for a pop of color once the candles inside were lit. Danielle’s mom truly outdid herself with all of the fabulous decor. Not only did she personally create all of the table numbers, decorative jars, programs, menu cards, and tasty cookies that guests were able to take home with them, but she brought in so many heartfelt details that brought Danielle’s vision to life. The gift vignette contained rustic tables, antique shutters, and old crates filled with fresh apples. A gift bag, carefully sewn together out of the bride’s aunt’s wedding dress stored the cards from all of Danielle and Ramsey’s loved ones.

As the couple sat together at their table, they toasted with their heirloom champagne glasses in front of numerous photos of their family members throughout the years. It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to be a part of such a special day in a family’s history.

The one detail that permeates through the ages is the opulence and magnitude of Diana’s gown. Designed by two virtually unknown designers David and Elizabeth Emmanuel, her gown was something princesses are made of with layers of ivory silk, delicate lace detailing on the bodice and large ruffled sleeves, and a 25-foot-train. She wore the Spencer Family gold tiara, which is formed into tulip and star shaped flowers with diamonds. She carried a massive cascading bouquet with white flowers and lush greenery. Her maids were dressed in sleeved gowns inspired by her own, with pretty hand tied bouquets and floral wreaths for their hair.

When looking at all the images from the Royal Wedding of 1981 everything looks like a fairytale. Much of the fashion and details feels quite dated next to the current, more modern weddings of our time. Pay close attention– because A LOT of what you see is going to come back into Vogue– and rather soon. Well, that is, everything except for the cascading bouquet!

Since every bride’s wedding starts off with a source of inspiration– her gown– tomorrow we’ll talk about our ideas for what Kate Middleton might wear to the formal ceremony and her evening reception!

When the couple arrived, they were tucked away inside the Still River Cafe, where they were able to overlook through the restaurant’s panoramic window at their guests arriving. The ceremony took place in the corner of the lush lawn that surrounded the Cafe, where guests observed on rustic benches adorned with shepherd’s hooks, overflowing with loosely arranged flowers by Azaela Floral Design. Instead of traditional vows, Kelly and Paolo recited Dr. Seuss’s wedding vows, in which Paolo promised, “Yes, I will have, and I will hold, just as I have at this time told. Yes, I will love her all my life as now I take her as my wife” and Kelly pledged, “Yes, I will love for my whole life. Yes, I will happily be his wife!”

They recessed down the aisle to the jubilant sound of kazoos, followed by their guests to enjoy some sweet lemonade before heading inside. Their dog Bella made an appearance and could not sit still, she was so excited! Past the vintage bicycle with hydrangeas filling the basket and up the candle-lit steps, the couple and guests enjoyed an intimate reception. Christine from Azalea Floral Design really dressed up the cafe with beautiful greenery wrapped around the ceiling beams and gorgeous mini-arrangements of roses and delicate flowers in vintage medicine bottles that perfectly complimented the love letters and vintage books that were a favorite possession to both the bride and groom. Joseph Kiernan and his band performed some light music above in the loft while the wedding party dined on their choice of fresh oysters, tender beef, delicately flavored stuffed mushrooms, and savory rabbit in between sips of wine. In lieu of cake, the couple chose to treat their guests to chocolate cupcakes with a chocolate ganache frosting, cleverly decorated with orange sugar flowers. Guests enjoyed their treats as well as their favors, loaves of chocolate cake–Kelly’s favorite recipe! It was such a beautiful wedding, filled with so many family members and love, that it was hard for everyone to leave at the end of the night!

Rose and David are one of those couples that you just know were destined to meet and get married. With 80 of their closest friends surrounding them, they were joined in a loving ceremony underneath the big tree at The Webb Barn in mid-june. Their ceremony was a mixture of their unique backgrounds and traditions they love. Guests arrived at The Webb Barn in Wethersfield to the waving Scottish flag and ambient sound of bag pipes. Emily’s Catering was on site with servings of refreshing flavored water and juices as guests mingled near the wooden benches. Rose floated down the rose petal aisle, escorted by her mom and dad, to the most amazing string arrangement of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes.” Their program was an inspired design like old concert programs that had a cheeky spin on the ceremony. Rose made paper cones, filled with dried rose petals, that guests tossed as they recessed up the aisle.

Rose and David worked on so many projects themselves, from their light and airy tissue poms that floated above the dance floor to the amazing scotch bar that entertained guests all night long. When I first met with Rose she said, “I want the barn to feel like the Queen would get married here.” She started with a royal color palette of regal blues and purples, added a bit of gold and guild, and hit the mark. Guests dined family style on a delicious grilled dinner by emily’s catering group, at tables dripping in rich purple linens, gold chargers, and hem stitched linen napkins. Azaela Floral Design created beautiful branch arrangement centerpieces with glittering crystals, bringing a bit of glamour into the rustic setting. Each table had a champagne bucket of Dom that invited guests to pop the cork themselves and get festive.

With the barn doors open, guests danced the night away to their amazing 80’s cover band and ended the night with a sparkler send off. Let’s start the day with Rose’s amazing shoes. AMAZING!

Saryn began the day at a family member’s home getting ready with all her bridesmaids, who each wore a different color dress in varying shades of purple and blue. Saryn wore the most beautiful Melissa Sweet gown, “Fern” and accessories from The White Dress by the Shore. Her dress was unbelievably gorgeous!!! A dream dress and she looked stunning. With Dana Bartone & Company on board for hair and makeup, the girls got all gussied and headed over to the Yacht Club.

Elisabeth from BLUSH designed their beautiful florals, from colorful purple bouquets dripping with green amaranthus to a white birch chuppah with clutches of purple flowers and flowing greenery. She really outdid herself and brought their color scheme to life. Little bunches of vibrantly colored ribbons were tied to the aisle chairs that lead to the chuppah near the giant flag pole. The ceremony was emotional, funny, and full of meaningful music— all the things that I think represent Saryn and Dave as a couple. The bride walked down the aisle to a beautiful Spanish guitar solo of Led Zeppelin’s “Over the Hills and Far Away…” We designed a gorgeous aqua program with pretty lavender ribbon. We had purple parasols available for guests to shield them from the hot summer sun, which was not only functional but also quite pretty! At the end of the ceremony, guests blew bubbles as Saryn and Dave recessed up the aisle.

Guests transitioned into a cocktail hour on the great lawn overlooking the marshes with pretty cocktail tables decorated by Elisabeth. Jordan Caterers had a wide faire of delicious passed food for guests to nibble on before it was time to be seated inside the ballroom and under the tent. Signature cocktails were passed and a lounge we created on the side deck was the perfect place for quiet conversation. The tablescapes were colorful and simple, with gorgeous high arrangements in shades of purple, green and blue on top of aqua crinkle linen. We had rolled hemstitch linen napkins and tied them with raffia for a sea grass look. They looked fabulous! Simple tented table numbers backed with aqua paper finished off the tablescape.

Saryn and Dave danced their first dance and enjoyed an amazing evening of delicious food, good wine, and amazing family and friends who flew from all over the US to share in their wedding day. John from Powerstation worked their awesome 80′s playlist and kept everyone on their feet for the night! Toward the end of the night we put together a festive and fun candy station, complete with jelly bans, Swedish fish, swirly pops and chocolate covered gummy bears to name a few. I loved how colorful and fun it looked— perfect for a 4th of July wedding. At the very END of the night, Jordan’s Caterer’s brought out mini sliders and milk shakes for guests to nibble on after a LONG night of dancing to great 80’s music!

The night ended with a sparkler send off…!

Sally wore a gorgeous all lace, fitted gown with a beautiful open back. Her curled hair was twisted up into a low bun by Catie of Dana Bartone (who was also responsible for her gorgeous makeup). I loved the sparkle in her hair too with a Maria Elena ribbon headband. She wore the prettiest yellow shoes by Joan and David– dare I say the prettiest shoes we’ve seen all year! For the ceremony, Sally also wore her moms beautiful lace trimmed veil. Elisabeth from BLUSH designed the all white bouquet of garden roses, dahlias, and lots of pretty flowers. Sally’s maids had the prettiest yellow and green bouquets with ranunculus, billy balls, and garden roses.

Oliver wore a custom grey suit with a yellow tie– as did his three groomsmen. They all wore perfect yellow boutonnieres of ranunculus pinned to their lapels. There was also pairs of awesome purple socks hidden beneath their grey suits!

Their ceremony and celebration took place at The Waveny House in New Canaan at Waveny Park. The ceremony was performed in the walled garden overlooking sunset, under a chuppah canopied by Sally’s grandfather’s prayer shawls. Guests were greeted by Gourmet Galley with spicy nuts served up in paper cones and a refreshing drink. Beautiful white candles strung from Sheppard’s hooks lit the pathway to the garden, pretty white pomanders lined the aisle, white pashmina’s wrapped in grey satin ribbon sat in a wicker basket. A string quartet from the Hart School of Music played traditional Jewish compositions for the bridal party.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a fabulous cocktail hour out on the terrace accompanied by the string quartets rendition of current and classic music: the beatles, weezer, vampire weekend, lady gaga– totally surprising, festive, and unexpected. Guests nibbled on delicious passed hors’dourves and two signature drinks: mint gin fizz and pomegranate margaritas. Yum!

After cocktails, The Clark Eno Orchestra kicked the evening off with a celebratory hora. Then, guests moved inside to the three ballrooms at The Waveny to dine on their choice of duck, mahi mahi or short ribs. The food, prepared by Gourmet Galley, was beyond delicious!

I think that yellow is the new color of The Waveny– it was so beautiful in their warm, wooden ballrooms. We designed family style, long banquet tables with a deep slate cotton linen to the floor and a white linen runner. Elisabeth from BLUSH created gorgeous yellow centerpieces using garden roses, ranunculous, calla lilies and other floral varies in shades of yellow and green. The containers were beautiful– black pedestal urns and chunky square marbled vases. Candles burned in mercury glass on the tables and fireplace mantels.

A silver rimmed charger with custom toile napkins were at each place setting, along with a menu card detailing the evenings faire. We tied each napkin with a thick, double faced yellow satin ribbon. Each guest had a place card pinned into a champagne cork designating their seat. I love the silver ball headed pins we used! Petite dessert plates had an array of chocolate from the famous Knipschildt Chocolate in Norwalk. We finished off the look with tailored chair covers and sashes in white.

Escort cards were printed in pretty typography and neatly laid onto wheat grass in galvanized trays. Later, we created a candy station with old fashion, child hood delights like rock candy and jelly beans. They had a three tier white butter cream cake from Sweet Cakes with simple architectural details. Sally found these really cute white wooden birds that we placed on the second tier of the cake.

Sally and Oliver danced the night away on the terrace to a rockin’ mix of motown, funk, disco, and all the good music you love to hear at a wedding. Gourmet Galley topped off the night with a round of passed delicious goodies inspired by the season. It as a truly spectacular celebration that we were so honored to be part of! Congratulations Sally and Oliver— we wish you all of life’s blessings and an amazing future!

Yesterday was the SUPER amazing wedding day of our clients and friends, Nicole and Tim. They were married in the quaint 1870′s summer colony known as Old Buttomwoods in Warwick, Rhode Island. I can’t wait to share with you all the incredible details that Nichole and Tim created for their wedding–! We had so much fun spending time with them and their families. It was also great to work with our amazing team of talented vendors– including Carla Ten Eyck, Datura: A Modern Garden, The White Dress by the Shore, and Jim Altieri.

Yippie! Today is the long awaited wedding of the most beautiful and sweet bride ever, Jennifer, and her equally genuine and wonderful fiancee, Clark. As you can tell, I couldn’t be more excited to see the wedding of these two come to fruition. They are such a wonderful couple and we have planned a gorgeous pink and purple affair with vintage touches at my favorite spot, The New Haven Lawn Club. Their ceremony will be right in their very own neighborhood at Assumption Church in Westport. We’re working with an incredible team of talent– Robert and Kathleen Photographers, BLUSH floral studio, Rob Alberti Lighting, Bales & Giltin Band, and Sweet Cakes out of Fairfield. Jennifer even has a custom gown by Modern Trousseau with jewels and accessories from The White Dress by the Shore!  We can’t wait to get the festivities and merriment started. Today is Jenna and Brad’s wedding day– and what a GORGEOUS day for a wedding it is! They are getting married here in Connecticut, surrounded by an intimate gathering of friends and family who’ve flown in from all over the country. When I met with Jenna nearly a year ago, I instantly fell in love with her sense of style and love of vintage. While we’re sad that we can’t be there to see all the festivities and merriment come together, we know everything will be wonderful and gorgeous! Our biggest congratulations to you Jenna and Brad!

Today is the wedding day of Anna and Matt– perhaps one of our favorite clients turned friends. Ever. They are taking their guests back to wonderland– a place of imagination, riddles, and storytelling. Anna and Matt happen to be one of Jessica’s Country Flowers‘ deserving couples, where they’ve received a lot of incredible vendors who have donated their time and efforts to putting this day together! We’ve been working on an aqua, turquoise, red and pink design with lot’s of hand made details and quirky styling. We’re dashing off to their mega set up at The Barns in Middletown with a ceremony at a small, very old neighborhood chapel in Amston, Connecticut. Icing on the cake? Eric and Amber from raw photo design are shooting this one. Yeah. We’re pumped!!!!

Anna– Matt we want to be the first to congratulate you!!! We are so EXCITED and HAPPY for your wedding and can’t wait to get everything underway. Xoxoxo to infinity!

I have been waiting with baited breath to share this amazing, touching, thoughtful, and down right gorgeous may day wedding with you. It was just featured on Martha Stewart’s website and now we’re really excited to share the story of A&J, as captured by Amanda Herzberger of Orchard Cove Photography. But before we do– I need to caution you– their story is a STORY and it can’t be told in a few words. I promise you that the pictures are yummy and delicious, but the meaning behind them even more beautiful.

Allison and Jacob are the reason why I love my job so much. Not because they had a beautiful wedding with lots of sentimental and meaningful details— but because they are two amazing, lovely people with a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love story that we are so honored to share with you. To know Allie and Jacob is to know that first and foremost, they love each other. And I mean they love each other like Jack loved Rose, Richard Burton loved Elizabeth Taylor and Big loved Carrie. Yeah. It’s pretty major. Sometimes, they would write each other emails about how much they loved each other and forget that I was cc’ed on them. They are extremely creative, thoughtful people who wanted every aspect off their wedding to be a reflection of them, their lives, and their families. Allie and Jacob love Connecticut— and love the city of Hartford. They work here, are intimately involved in the community, and wanted to share our lovely rising star with their nearest and dearest, who flew in from all over the world to attend their black-tie nuptials.

They met while attending Middlebury College where Allie became the best of friends with Jacob’s sister, Jenny. Story goes, beautiful blond California Girl moves to the east coast for college and meets a handsome, studious boy from Huntington, New York… who immediately falls in love with her. She played hard to get, but finally, the two became a pair. After college, they maintained a long distance romance and wrote love letters to one another while they were apart. Not being able to stomach another moment away from each other, Allie moved to Connecticut where they settled down and started a new home in West Hartford.

The muse for Allie and Jacob’s day comes from the whimsy and jubilation of May Day. The dawing of Spring, where everything comes alive once again; the towering Maypole, with her fluttering ribbons. May Day is all about joie de vivre—and so is a Spring wedding. Allie was also inspired by a striking spode pattern from her mom’s china, which was displayed behind glass ever since she could remember. A few years before Allie and Jacob were engaged, Allie’s mom passed away to cancer. Growing up, her mom had this very special set of china that was only used for the most special occasions. Not on yearly holidays or special dinners with friends.. But REALLY special, once-in-a-lifetime kind of occasions where only the prettiest, most perfectly blue china would do. I guess you could say that in the grand list of occasions one has during a lifetime, Allison’s mom would consider the wedding of A&J as the specialist of all.

Allison and Jacob’s guests were asked to save the date with a beautiful, amazing, totally gorg save the date as designed by Cheree Berry (and our bride and groom, who were so closely involved in the paper process). Cheree is an incredible designer and put together the entire paper suite. Their save the date was a whimsical notice decorated with a maypole and the important deets, with the spode pattern blind embossed on the back. Their wedding day invitation suite was a tiffany blue edged, fanciful letter pressed art piece with lots of marvelous touches, including a passage from the may day poem above. Elizabeth Porcher Jones (our all time favorite Southern belle) was the calligraphy composer, with her light, breezy hand. All the interior envelopes addressed their guests by their nicknames, like Moo, Poopsy, and Jenny. Their guests sent back the most delightful responses— putting as much thought into their reply as Allison and Jacob had into the invites. One was even transformed into a watercolor— we LOVED looking through them!

The day began with Allie and her maids prepping in a suite at the Hartford Marriott with beauty by Jennie Fresa Beauty Library. Allie chose to wear a borrowed Vera Wang luxe gown (hereby referred to by name, which is “Holly”) as part of a sweet tradition started by her mom and god mom. When her mother Barbara married Allie’s dad, she wore her best friend Patti’s dress. And so, when Allie married Jacob, she wore Patti’s daughter’s (also named Allison) dress. It was a perfectly whimsical gown with a pleated ball skirt and springy details along the hem. Holly was paired with the daintiest veil and bolero from The White Dress by the Shore. Allie chose to wear special jewelry that was her moms, too. Her maids wore lovely floor length satin Vera Wang gowns. Shoes, of course, by Jimmy Choo.

Not to be outdone, Jacob wore a stellar tux with custom blue and white polka dot suspenders and bow tie… Perfect.

Allison and Jacob exchanged vows at place that makes my own heart skip a beat— The Old State House in Hartford. It’s such an architectural showstopper with it’s clean white trimmings, big windows with buttery light, and the giant gold chandelier. Allie and Jacob especially loved this location for it’s history and meaningfulness to the state of Connecticut. Plus, Jacob’s law firm overlooks the state house, so it’s an important piece of his daily life. Me? Well, it’s where I got married too… so I love it for all those reasons and more!

Guests arrive to the Old State House and were greeted by stunning details and décor. Allie had fabric made from the spode pattern, which were turned into fabric boutonnières and corsages for every guests. What would a black tie event be without a corsage or boutonnière? Paper lilies of the valley decorated the foyer, too. Their program was a beautiful die cut folded booklet (also by Cheree Berry) with all the important deets on the inside and little touches of romantic imagery through out.

Their ceremony was as emotional and tear-jerking as they come. In fact, Diana and I stood in the back corner and cried our little heads off, especially while they read their own vows to one another. Allie and Jacob decided not to see each other before the ceremony (which is so rare these days), so this moment of Allie walking down the aisle to Jacob with her dad was really extra special. Allie carried a gorgeous bouquet of peonies and garden roses alongside a very special hankie. Guests were surrounded with beautiful white hydrangea wreaths hung on the walls, sprigs of flowers tied with blue bows, and ribbon playfully attached to the backs of their chairs. The aisle runner was hand painted with a faint blue pattern of spode down it’s center. Perfect. Their chuppah was understated, but completely gorgeous, with blue ribbons cascading down it’s sides. The poles were tucked into big garden pots, bursting with moss and spring flowers. We had swags of boxwood garland to make the balcony above festive. Rectangular boxwood pots also sat along the window sills. Elisabeth from BLUSH floral design is responsible for all the incredible, amazing, stunning, and down right fairytale beautiful flowers.

So many details went into the ceremony, it’s hard to believe there could be more left over for the reception. When guests entered the The Hartford Club, where Allie and Jacob are members, they were not only greeted with a blue ribbon signature drink (yum! or so I hear), but also a towering maypole– also created by BLUSH and her talented team. Teacups and saucers in the spode pattern decorated cocktail tables, and a fun escort card display with calligraphy by Elizabeth Porcher Jones.

Guests wrote their wishes for Allison and Jacob and dropped them into a well.

We transformed the upstairs ballroom into a space fit for a may day celebration. Tables were bursting with whites, blues, and silver. Draped in a deep blue crinkle taffeta linen with stunning floral designs by BLUSH– big tall arrangements dripping with beautiful flowers in mercury glass vases, and lower arrangements all perfectly situated in spode tea cups, casserole dishes, fruit bowls… the list goes on. There were surrounded by candlelight and a bed of moss, flowers, and petals. So romantic. Cheree stunned us again with blue paper pennant flags which were leaping out of moss containers for table numbers, the prettiest menu cards detailing the evenings gastro delight, and a surprise waiting for guests beneath their antiqued silver charger. Ribbons in varying shades of blue danced along the backs of their silver chairs. We brought in custom lighting, draping, and even an amazing white dance floor that made the whole room take on a soft, white glow. Their cake, a five tiered white masterpiece, was the design of Ana Parzych. It had lily of the valley detailing along each tier, with a dainty cluster of lily of the valley sugar flowers on top.

The Hartford Club and Chef Kube served up an evening of spectacular spring inspired food— most notably delicious was a “leaf” of pasta (a special dish developed by the groom and chef). Yummy California wines (hand picked by the bride’s dad) and Champagne flowed through out the evening. The best man and maid of honor, both siblings to the groom, gave touching speeches all remarking on one common thing: how perfect Allison is for Jacob, and Jacob for Allison.

Important to them was not only the look, the food, and all the small details…. But also the party. Their band, David Clark and the Renegades, did NOT disappoint. As a matter of fact, they go down in history as having the best Bon Jovi rendition I’ve heard!

Jacob surprised everyone with a performance after dinner. In college, Jacob was part of an acapella group named “D8”, who serenaded our beautiful bride with a four-part musical and theatrical performance. It was outstanding— to say the least!!! Everyone absolutely loved it— myself included!

As the night came to a close, the Hartford Club passed the most yummy blue french macarons from Jerome Bouston with shots of milk. Could you not have a more perfect midnight snack? As guests left for the evening, they were given a Favors: Ben Wolff pot with borage seeds— which closely resemble our spode inspiration, but more importantly, are perfect for cooking (and in case you didn’t know, A&J also LOVE too cook and are quite good at it, too!).

Their color story was jubilant and dramatic— shades of hot pink, feather, jadite, lilac, coal and sunflower. At my first meeting with Danielle and John, they showed me this beautiful inspiration board by 100 Layer Cake that stood as the muse for their colorful wedding. She wore the prettiest tea-length, ruffle Melissa Sweet gown from The White Dress by the Shore with aqua heals and a birdcage veil. She even had her hair in a playful English braid. Her maids each dressed in a different color chiffon dress from j.crew and carried bouquets bursting with color and florals like fern, fiddle heads and pink dahlias. The ever talented Elisabeth and her team from BLUSH floral studio created all the beautiful floral decor. Danielle carried a garden bouquet with a mixture of fluffy white flowers like dahlias, peonies and garden roses.

Prior to the ceremony Danielle and John had their first look in this dreamy, lovely, country-side setting. So pretty– even John’s wayward boutonniere!

Danielle and John exchanged vows overlooking long aisle sound, surrounded by nearly 200 of their family and friends. Their friends and family flew in from all over the world to be there for their amazing celebration– including Danielle’s beautiful grandmother. Hot pink rose petals lined the aisle and two elegant branch arrangements in coal colored urns flanked the rock wall. Friends read from Brown Penny by William Butler Yeats. We designed a gorgeous program on mint colored paper inspired by Laduree.

Their reception, held at the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa, immediately followed cocktail hour where guests enjoyed music by their string trio. The ballroom was transformed by Rob Alberti and his amazing lighting in shades of pinks, purple and amber. They had coal colored urns of flowers with rich colors spilled over on the tables dressed in ribbon taffeta. Inspired by a French tea party, gold encrusted bone china adorned the tables with playful mix-matched plates and ornate polished silver. The menu was designed on mint colored stock with hand stamped gold flourishes! Guests took home delicious pink boxes filled with French macaroons from Le Petit France of West Hartford, flavored in raspberry and pistachio.

Guests ate a delicious white buttercream cake provided by Saybrook Point Inn & Spa and a special West Indies’ cake that had been soaking in liquor for amount six months…. no exaggeration! Yum!

Congratulations to you both! We couldn’t be more happier for you and feel more honored to be part of your wedding day (and all the other festivities!). Life has amazing, wonderful things in store for the two of you and we can’t wait to see where it takes you. Big xoxo!

The team and I are really excited for today’s wedding of our colleague and friends, Elisabeth and Marco. Elisabeth owns her own floral design studio, BLUSH, and we work with her almost every weekend on events we collaborate on. She has incredible style and is so very talented at what she does!  I can’t wait to share all the details of their relaxed vineyard wedding at Jonathan Edwards. Congratulations guys– can’t wait for the festivities to get started!!!

Both from Connecticut, they chose to have a huge Connecticut wedding at The Riverview in Simsbury with 361 (to be precise!) of their closest family and friends. Living half of the year in Florida, they planned a spectacular wedding amongst many frequent flyer miles and long distance phone calls.

Their color story was hot pink, deep purple, black and white. We used patterned damask through out their design in their paper story, linens, and even lighting. Jessica was very inspired by her jeweled gown and we incorporated crystals through out the event, too. They also wanted to incorporate their love for horses, which they breed and race, so we worked with Jessica to add those special details through out the wedding.

She wore a jewel encrusted satin drop waist Kenneth Pool with detailing on the bodice and waist. Even her chapel length veil was studded in crystals! Her maids wore floor length Priscilla of Boston mermaid fit gowns with a beautiful crystal broach at the back. Datura: A Modern Garden is responsible for the floral artistry for the entire event, creating bouquets filled with lush pink flowers and crystals.

Their ceremony was interfaith with a Rabbi and Bishop performing the vow exchange, drawing from both of their religious backgrounds. I loved that Jessica kept the symbolism of the Jewish chuppah, which was designed by Datura: A Modern Garden. A four posted structure, the Chuppah symbolizes the home that Jessica and Frank will build together. It was an open aired structure with hand strung crystals and orchids. Pink pomander balls lined the aisle at the Ethel Walker Chapel where they exchanged vows.

We transformed The Riverview in Simsbury by turning the ballroom around for their fantastic band out of Manhattan, Attitude. Jessica and Frank really wanted to showcase their entertainment, so with our colleagues from ShorelineAV, we built a stage in the otherwise unoccupied alcove and brought in our own black and white checkered dance floor. Rob Alberti lit up the room in varying shades of pinks, purples, and amber. He created a custom damask pattern to wash the air wall and a gobo for the band stand. Guests first enjoyed cocktail hour underneath the great white tent with a cigar roller from The Connecticut Cigar Company and a quartet of classic and pop music from Millennium Music. A martini bar was set up with a gorgeous horse ice luge by the talented artists at Ice Matters.

We hung tag escort cards from a branch arrangement with beautiful white calligraphy on rich hot pink card stock by Michelle Dowling. Jessica and Frank chose a gorgeous purple pintuck with a shimmer to be the basis for their centerpieces, which were varying with pink floral pomanders, floating candles, submerged purple orchids. They were introduced into the room for the first time to A Call to the Post amist a large cheer from their 360 guests and went immediately into their first dance. Heartfelt speeches were given by their sibilings (and also maid of honor / best men)… Who spoke about what a loving couple they are to each other and their families.

They may go down in history as having the largest hora we’ve ever seen…. And boy, it went on for a good half hour!

The night ended with a delicious venetian station with made-to-order crepes and gelato, amongst the Riverview’s incredible chocolate and pastry menu.

Jessica and Frank— it was truly and honor to be part of your wedding day! We wish you all the best that life has to offer… And can’t wait to see what the future brings! Xo!

Julie and Jason were married in a late afternoon ceremony on May 8th at Hartford City Hall. Their wedding blended different Christian and Jewish traditions and was a huge celebration among their family and friends. Julie’s color story was a muted purple, moss green and white with accents of gold. With their busy lives in D.C. we were so happy to help them coordinate their wedding back home in Connecticut where Julie grew up. In looking through their pictures as we prepared for this blog post, I couldn’t help but notice how excited, happy, and joyful everyone looked on this day. Julie literally beamed– and let me tell you– she has the most beautiful smile. And Jason… well, every time he looked at his beautiful wife, he beamed too.

The morning began with the both of them getting ready in Glastonbury at the bride’s parents home. I absolutely loved the gown that Julie wore, which was embellished just below her hip with a fabric flower, feathers and crystals. She wore a gorgeous cage veil with feathers… perfectly classic and vintage! Her maids were all dressed in purple strapless satin gowns. The groomsmen wore black tuxes with purple pocket squares– while Jason wore some sentimental Curious George cuff-links.

Julie and Jason opted to have an emotional first look prior to the ceremony.

City Hall is a spectacular place for a ceremony– especially for this vintage affair. Julie and her parents were driven to City Hall in a vintage rolls royce, which pulled up front just in time for her to meet Jason at the end of the aisle.

After the ceremony the two of them dashed down the aisle to awaiting congratulations from family and friends. Could there not be a more perfect picture above and below? Robert Norman! After the ceremony, it was off to the gorgeous The Society Room of Hartford to celebrate! The room was lit by our friend, Rob Alberti (who also kept the crowd on their feet all night long!). Julie chose a gorgeous moss green pintuck linen with black lamour napkins. The centerpieces were tall, classic white arrangements… perfect for the setting. Guests dined on a delicious meal, with a generous display of delicious desserts to follow. Jason loves pie– and so the miniature pie dessert table was created!

Their hora was certainly a lively one! We love that a lot of family members, both jewish and non-jewish got lifted up in celebration!

Julie and Jason– congratulations! It was such a pleasure to be with you on your wedding day and to be part of your personal history. You two are a perfect match full of love and laughter. Today we are excited to spend our Independence Day with Saryn and David in Guilford! Today Jessica and Diana are coordinating the very special wedding of Danielle and John in Old Saybrook, Connecticut at the Saybrook Point and Spa! Nika and Jamar were married on a Friday evening in April.. much to the surprise of their guests! We worked for nearly a year on the big surprise their guest would encounter at their lavish “engagement party” at the New Haven Lawn Club in downtown New Haven. Only a select few family members and their bridal party knew about what was going to take place!

The design of their wedding was inspired by art deco, vintage french artwork, and the ambiance of the New Haven Lawn Club. Nika and I worked together to come up with the rich and colorful story of whites, silver, purple and red with a punch of hot pink for good measure! Here is our inspiration board that we designed for her and Jamar:

The story of Nika and Jamar began after being introduced by a mutual friend. It took some time for the two of them to get together after their first meeting… but once they did, it didn’t take them long to realize what a match they truly were. Fast forward a few years later and the two exchanged vows in a dim, candle lit ballroom surrounded by over a hundred of their nearest and dearest friends.

The day began warm and sunny— the perfect kind of day to have an “engagement” party! Nika and her Maid of Honor spent the afternoon getting ready in the bridal suite at the New Haven Lawn Club, with Jennie Fresa on make up.

When Elisabeth delivered Nika’s gorgeous white and green bouquet, filled with peonies, she cried! Peonies are Nika’s favorite flower, and with all the delay in travel after the Volcano eruption, we were not sure if peonies would be available… but Elisabeth was able to make magic happen! What an emotional surprise that lead to so many more on this very, very special day.

Below is a picture if Nika after seeing her best friend and Maid of Honor all dressed in her gorgeous, one shoulder purple Vineyard frock. Let me tell you, these two girls– soul sisters. They have such love and affection for one another– lifelong and dear friends!

Once her hair and makeup was complete, it was time to get her into one of the most beautiful Vera Wang gowns I have ever seen. It fit her like a glove and she looked absolutely radiant! Meanwhile, Jamar and his Best Man were getting ready for when Jamar would see Nika for the first time.. but right before that, we took Nika out front for some gorgeous (and quick!) bridal portraits.

Can a bride get any more beautiful?

Nika and Jamar chose to see one another before the ceremony and had an intimate first look just outside the room where they were going to be married. First looks are always emotional, sweet, and memorable moments.

Guests were gathering in the foyer to the Lawn Club, greeted with champagne and friendly smiles. Meanwhile, just beyond the wall, we were lighting the candles and putting the finishing touches on the gorgeous ceremony. I love Jamar’s boutonniere– a white rose with berries and a fiddle head fern. Nika’s Maid of Honor held a bouquet with seasonal purple flowers and red ranunculous. All of the flowers were absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony was flanked by two enormous garden urns, spilling over with seasonal white flowers such as hydrangea, ranunculous, and tulips. BLUSH designed the arrangements with tall branches and pussy willows, which mercury glass candle holders hung from. Hundreds of votive candles lined every sill and mantle through out the room.

Moments before the ceremony we hid the bride and groom away from sight and finally opened the doors into the party. Guests walked in expecting to see an engagement party but were met with a romantic ceremony! Here are some of their reactions upon entering the room for the first time! Nika and Jamar were listening in the opposite room to their guests’ reaction as they came in.

As the ceremony began, the bride was escorted down the aisle by her father to a trio of Canon D. The assembled guests rose as they saw her– an incredible and awesome moment!

They exchanged vows, officiated by Nika’s late grandmother’s Reverend, who they had flown in from Virgina. It was very meaningful for them to be married by Reverend Talley, who gave a beautiful ceremony.

Right after the ceremony guests were greeted to the sounds of vintage French music wafting from the ballroom… Nika and Jamar hired the most incredible band, Bon Musique, to entertain at their reception. The Lawn Club catered a delicious cocktail and hor’dourve affair complete with a martini station, risotto station, and more delicious delights! Since their party was all about sumptuous finger foods, yummy cocktails, and dancing– we designed the room to have a nice cocktail party feel! BLUSH designed gorgeous table and mantel decor in purple flowers with red ranunculous, tucked in beautiful mercury glass vessels.

Rob Alberti lit the room in shades of purple and pink!

There were touching toasts by the Reverend Talley and their best man and maid of honor.

Nika’s sorority sister’s sang One True Delta and then the band rocked the night away until the last candle flickered out. What a great way to end an amazing day!

Nika and Jamar– it was such a sincere pleasure to work with you. Thank you for allowing Jubilee to be apart of your families personal history. Nothing but success, joy, love and happiness to you both!

I hope you are all enjoying your memorial weekend! The team and I have been busy getting ready for Jessica and Frank’s wedding! I’ve been working with them for almost a year now for their wedding on what has turned out to be a gorgeous day in Simsbury, Connecticut. They’re day was captured by the talented and funny John of Prestige Barkley Photography.

In the early morning Lisa and her gorgeous ‘maids spent the first part of their day enjoying beauty at the Red Door Spa. By late morning, they were sipping champagne in Lisa’s suite at the Mystic Hilton. Lisa’s maid of honor and sister along with her mom got her into magnificent ivory Pnina Tornai gown (purchased at Kleinfeld). Lisa’s satin gown was full of gorgeous ruching and draping of fabric and had a corseted bodice. She wore her mother’s vintage earrings and necklace. Her maids wore beautiful Alfred Angelo floor length satin gowns in a burnt orange color.

In my conversations with Lisa she’s told me that Eric loves to create special things for her– so it was no surprise that he put together a handmade book for their wedding day and wrote in it a message to his bride. How sweet and romantic is that?

Diane Gaudett created the floral decor for the day, and designed these beautiful fall inspired bouquets with orchids, calla lillis, roses, and branches. They were so beautiful!

The ride from the Hilton to St. Patrick’s Church in Mystic was an exciting one for Lisa and her parents as Eric waited with his best man and Father Brian. At 2:15 p.m., once the bridal party had been sent down the aisle and the groom emerged at the alter, the organist began to play the slow intro to Cannon D. A ton of light flooded into the church as the two large wooden doors opened and there stood Lisa, escorted by her parents down the aisle to her awaiting groom. This is the moment I love the most about a wedding. Jessica and I watched through the door’s stained glass windows.

Once they were pronounced husband and wife it was time to head over to Harkness Park. We had prepared several dozen glasses of champagne in their party bus for the 20 minute ride!

At 5 p.m guests began to arrive at Mystic Aquarium for Lisa and Eric’s reception. The cocktail hour was held outside in the atrium known as “Arctic Coast” overlooking the beluga whale tank. It is such a beautiful setting and so unique. Jazz music courtesy of their amazing band, In Transit. Guests got into interact with the beluga whales and toward the end of cocktail hour, Lisa and Eric escorted the penguins out to great their guests!

The dining and dancing portion of the reception took place in the lower aquarium area which is surrounded by sea creatures swimming around in enormous tanks. It was the perfect back drop!

Diane Gaudett created branch centerpieces for each table, which consisted of curly branches, orange orchids, and hanging votives. They were so beautiful and really, really complimented the cool glow of the tanks. Lisa kept the table linens light with a beautiful ivory underlay and gold / soft brown overlay.

The amazing Ana Parzych created an absolutely stunning cake with two nuzzling sea horses as the topper. Sea horses were a reoccuring theme through out their wedding– in the program, on their escort cards, and nestled on top of their cake. Seahorses are known to be monogamous to one another after they experience courtship, and so they are such a fitting detail to weave into a wedding held at an aquarium.

Once they were introduced as the new Mr. & Mrs. they danced to “Home” by Michael Buble… so romantic! Guests enjoyed a delicious spread put on by Ocean Blue Catering. Once dinner was over it was time to kick it into high gear– and let me tell you– In Transit did NOT disappoint. I can safely say that they were one of the most talented bands I have ever seen!!! They sang everything from motown to the black eyed peas. And as you can see, guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

At the very end of the evening guests gathered out front and sent the couple off in style with a sparkler send off. The new Mr. & Mrs. Krause took off into their married life, headed for their honeymoon in Hawaii!

Rich and Veena were married on June 27th, 2009 at the Hilton in Stamford, Connecticut. They were surrounded by 250 of their closest friends and family as they celebrated two ceremonies and an amazing reception! Their amazing day was photographed and documented by Carrie Draghi Photography and we had the incredible honor of coordinating and planning their wedding.

The morning began with Veena getting ready for her first ceremony with her maid of honor and mom. Dana Bartone & Co. arrived in the early morning to work on hair and makeup. The bride wore the groom’s sister’s wedding gown and veil and her maid of honor wore a gorgeous purple gown. The groom and his best man wore classic black tuxedos. Their niece and nephew took on the extremely important role of flower girl and ring bearer.

Their “western” style ceremony took place in the Hilton’s gorgeous white tent, which has beautiful chandeliers and amazing white fabric ruching. They exchanged their vows in a room filled with an incredible amount of light. Once their ceremony was complete it was time to change and get prepared for the second event of the day, their Hindu ceremony.

In keeping with traditional Hindu customs, Veena had henna tattooed on her hands and feet — along with all the female friends and family close to her. The hotel suite where the women got ready was a flutter with jewels and gorgeous colorful saris. They helped one another to dress –including soaping up each others hands to get the teeny-tiny bracelets on. Veena was absolutely gorgeous in a red sari and her mother’s jewels.

The Hindu ceremony began with the Baraat, which is aptly named for the marriage processional. While Veena was tucked away in her suite, guests gathered from the farthest point of the Hilton with the groom and made their way inside. It was an extremely jubilant march that took about an hour to complete. There was a lot of drumming (which was AMAZING) and dancing. The history behind the Baraat is the groom being escorted by the bride’s parents and his parents into the bride’s village. I imagine in an era where this really occurred, it would have taken SEVERAL hours to reach the bride. The sweetest part to this story was that Veena watched the entire processional from her suite window.

Once the groom and his guests made their way inside the hotel and reached the meeting point, elders of both the families meet and welcome the groom with garlands and aarati. Then, the ceremony was to begin. The ceremony ballroom was transformed by Dhoom in rich reds and golds. Their mandap was absolutely spectacular, as was all the floral arrangements and special details placed throughout. Once the groom and his family were settled, the brides’ parents went to escort her in.

After their ceremony guests were invited back into the white tent, which was transformed for their reception. They had tall purple floral arrangements and beautiful white lid-top boxes filled with a gold dish and Indian candies at each place setting. Veena had a henna design inscribed on their beautiful white buttercream cake.

Veena changed into the MOST beautiful purple gown. It was so intricate and beatiful with a lot of bead detailing.

The maid of honor and best man gave very touching speeches, and the bride and groom enjoyed their first dance — ‘Til Kingdom Come by Coldplay. They danced ALL night long and had an amazing grand exit at the end of the evening where their guests showered them in rose petals. It was a great way to top off the night!

After their beautiful ceremony, Harris and Soulaf’s family and friends gathered on the avenue in Greenwich at L’escale at the Delamar Hotel. L’escale is the most fabulous French restaurant I’ve been to in Connecticut and has such a quaint and luxurious atmosphere. Their chef has been on Iron Chef not once…. but twice! And I can assure you his culinary delights that evening were just as delicious as you would imagine. Their staff is beyond amazing and every detail of Soulaf and Harris’ big day was executed flawlessly! Guests sipped cocktails and ate bite-sized hors’dourves on the patio overlooking Greenwich harbor. Their escort cards were created by Lilah Paper and displayed on a beautiful purple lamour linen. Mini arrangements in antique silver urns adorned the cocktail tables.

After cocktail hour guests were invited into L’escale’s dining room to enjoy a sumptuous meal especially selected by our couple. Each table was draped in gorgeous purple linens with towering centerpieces by Jessica’s Country Flowers. Full of crystals, lavender and ivory roses, antiqued hydrangea and submerged orchids. Satellite arrangements flanked their centerpiece along with a flurry of candlelight. The custom menus were created by Lilah Paper and sat on top of a lavender napkin and antiqued silver charger. Each guest also received a silver box filled with delectable Munsons Chocolate Truffles — a Connecticut favorite! Our dear friends at Ice Matters also carved this incredible ice luge with their monogram and a design from the couture invitations that Lilah Paper created. The entire room was lit by the talented Rob of AfterHours, who also DJ’ed the entire evening.

The new Mr. & Mrs. Grannick enjoyed their first dance amongst their family and friends. Their incredible… and I mean… INCREDIBLE cake was created by the talented Ana Parzych. It was a five tier masterpiece with a custom monogram. On top were the most beautiful purple sugar flowers!!! Just when you thought their wedding couldn’t get any more beautiful…. after dinner… belly dancers!!!

My girl Laura Jordan of Jordan Dance is unbelievable. Not only she is drop dead gorgeous, but this girl can shake her hips like no ones business!!!! Her and her partner put on a 25 minute show that surprised everyone. They were AMAZING!!! After their standing ovation it was time to join in, dance, and spend the rest of the evening celebrating!!

After tossing her bouquet, Harris and Soulaf left in a gorgeous rose petal send off for their honeymoon to Hawaii. Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your incredible, one-of-a-kind celebration!! It was sincerely an honor and a privilege.

I had the distinct pleasure of coordinating, designing and spending my birthday with Harris and Soulaf in September of 2009. They first came to me in 2008 on the brink of engagement wanting a wedding that incorporated Harris’ grandfathers home in Greenwich and Soulaf’s French Moroccan heritage. They began the day at Soulaf’s home where she got ready, surrounded by her parents and siblings. They were so fortunate in having the incredible Carla Ten Eyck capture every moment of their day. Soulaf wore an incredible gown from The White Dress by the Shore. She had on the most AMAZING custom veil, studded in hundreds of swarvoski crystals. It was truly breathtaking (and heavy!!!). The talented Ellie Esper traveled all the way from NYC to do Soulaf’s hair and makeup. Her beautiful bouquet, filled with white roses and orchids, was by Jessica’s Country Flowers.

Harris spent the morning with his brothers prepping for the grand festivities. He wore a custom suit with a very chic purple tie! His late grandfather, Irving, raised his family in the home where Harris and Soulaf were to be married. The back yard is an incredible oasis and the most beautiful backdrop to their incredible day. Harris and Soulaf met when she came to work at his pharmacy in Greenwich during a summer break from school. They’re romance bloomed and the rest… well, its history!

Soulaf’s sister was her matron of honor while Harris’ youngest brother was his best man. They had a beautiful ring bowl created by Palomas Nest.

Their arbor in which they were married under had roses and hydrangea weaved through out, created by Jessica’s Country Flowers. It was all white with draping fabric. A custom aisle runner was created by I Do Originals. They were able to lift a piece of their invitation design, which was a custom piece from Lilah Paper, and hand paint it onto their runner in purple, with silver and white accents. The beautiful purple and white program that Kalyn designed, with the same elements, sat peacefully on each chair. We had boxes of lavender rose petals for tossing. Pretty Moroccan lanterns flanked the aisle too.

When Will and Debbie contacted me to plan their destination wedding to Marbella, Spain, we had a short time period to put together all the details. In my quest to find the most amazing location for their vows and reception, we came across the Hotel Rincon Andaluz, an incredible resort right on the Costa del Sol coastline. They were incredible to work with — truly — and recommended great vendors to help pull together Will and Debbie’s day!

They exchanged vows in a Spanish chapel and had an amazing dinner at the Hotel Rincon Andaluz, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Congratulations to you guys!! Similar Posts:

Liz and Jayson were married on July 11th, 2009 at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut. They were surrounded by so much love and support and celebrated their union with their loving family and friends. The Maritime Aquarium is a special place for them — it is the site of their third date. I loved being a part of Liz and Jayson’s wedding which was filled with so many unique and meaningful touches.

Robert and Kathleen Trenske spent the entire day documenting their love story. The day began with Liz and her ‘maids getting ready at their gorgeous apartment in Norwalk. The guys were somewhere close by fluffing their collars and added on their cuff links.

Liz had the most gorgeous wedding gown. I was so in love the first time I saw it at one of her fittings! It was so delicate with lace, a bit of sparkle, and swiss dot fabric. What made it even more beautiful was Liz herself — she just beamed every time she put it on. It was a true testimonial that the woman makes the dress. Look how radiant she is! I absolutely love this photograph that Rob and Kathleen captured of Liz’s mom putting her veil on. Can’t you see the excitement there?

Once Liz and her ‘maids were all ready she went outside into the center courtyard to meet her groom. Their first look was filled with so much emotion!

After it was on to the ceremony at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut. Liz’s bouquet was filled with white Calla Lily’s and little sea shells that my good friend, Elisabeth from BLUSH floral design, created. I created their wedding day paper, include their blue and silver programs. It detailed their love story and the significance of the Aquarium and also explained the various parts of their Jewish ceremony.

As guests began to arrive, Liz and Jayson held their Ketubah signing ceremony nearby. Surrounded by their parents and closest friends, along with their Rabbi, it was a beautiful ceremony. Once complete, it was time to head down the aisle! We took them through the inner workings of the Aquarium to smuggle them away from guests’ eyes.

The ceremony location inside the Aquarium is actually the cafeteria. I know. Hard to believe, right? Elisabeth from BLUSH created this AMAZING chuppah out of flowy white organza fabric and tightly arranged white hydrangea and carnations. It was the most gorgeous chuppah I’ve ever seen! When we set out to design something for this space I loved the contrast of the white against the brick, wood, and metal. The chuppah really stands out and looks so romantic and dreamy. Elisabeth scattered some rose petals and we lined each window sill with a ton of floating and votive candles to add to the romantic glow of the room. It was heavenly!

Their ceremony was so touching. Jayson sang “Grow Old Along with Me” to his bride! One of my favorite moments, that I simply have to share, was right before the ceremony as the processional was ending. It was just me and Liz at the bottom of the staircase. As the music changed to U2, “All I Want is You”, it was time for her to go. She looked at me and took my arm and said, “Oh my god Candice… this is really it!!! It’s here!!” I get all emotional thinking about it!! It was such an incredible moment for me as their coordinator and reaffirms how honored and privileged I feel to be so intimately involved in my couple’s wedding day. Truly a moment I’ll never forget!

After the ceremony Liz and Jayson joined their guests for cocktail hour. Guests mingled up the pathway of native fish tanks, shark tanks, and lots of sea critters and creatures. We had passed wine and champagne with yummy and delicious food from Phillip Stone Caterers. Can you imagine sipping champagne and watching the sharks circle around their tank? It was so unique!!

Some details from their reception: Elisabeth from BLUSH used three different style arrangements on the tables — one with beautiful white flowers, another with white flowers submerged in cylindar vases with blue sea glass and candles, and another arrangement of a hurricane vase filled with sea glass and candles. I love the combination! She created a fun escort card display of silver painted fish netting, blue sea glass, and flowers. Jubilee created the escort cards out of hand drawn vintage fish on pretty blue card stock.

Their friend, a graphic designer, and created this fish monogram for their wedding. We used that monogram on a ton of fun paper items, like custom cocktail napkins, their programs, favor tags, save the dates and invitations. It was a fun way to tie it all together!

Their favors were Hawaiian sea salt in metal tins, tied with silver ribbon and a favor tag. Their cake was a gorgeous, modern two-tiered blue fondant cake from SoNo Baking Company. They purchased the cutest little fish bowl cake topper, too!

Liz and Jayson’s reception was fun, delicious, and emotional! Their friends and parents gave touching testimonials of their relationship and good nature. Liz and Jayson really are one of the nicest couples I’ve had the opportunity of working with. They danced the night away with friends, celebrated the hora, and ended the evening with one final dance.

Soo… is Signature Event Rentals not awesome? Their furniture totally made our tablescape go from cool to incredible. I loved their white dining table and we decided to use their Alice Pop hot pink chairs, mixed in with the white padded, clear backed. Elisabeth created a series of beautiful and simple pink arrangements down the center of the table in vintage milk glass containers… gorgeous!!

Party Rentals Ltd in Greenwich and New Preston supplied the hot pink glass chargers and some of the dinner plates. We also used their gold rimmed wine / champagne glasses and gold flatware. All the other pieces are vintage china (lots of limoges), including the tea cups and saucers, white/gold dinner plates and the aqua soup bowls are all courtesy of my friend and etsy shop owner, Jen. Check out her store, Jen’s Closet!

I added little bottles of Moet at each place setting and floated white raspberries in each champagne glass (they were yum!). The beautiful art deco napkins came from this fabulous antique store in Seymour, Connecticut called Yesterday’s Luxuries. They are made of linen and are so delicate and beautiful! Definitely a set of keepers.

For those of you who don’t know, Carla runs an amazing workshop for photographers once a month where she spends an entire day shooting, educating, and discussing her artform. I’ve attended two Ten Eyck Tuesdays and Carla is amazing!! If you are a photographer in the area (you should travel here if your not!) I highly recommend Carla’s workshop. They are so thorough and detailed. Plus, Carla puts the sass in sass-a-frass.

The location for the shoot was really awesome. The building is an interior designer’s dream, full of lots of shops from furniture to lighting. We took over a blank industrial space with nothing except a few sheets of unused drywall laid up against the wall.

This gorgeousness is all courtesy of Carla and Beth Chapman of White Dress by the Shore who dressed and styled our gorgeous models. Don’t you just LOVE this short wedding gown and feather hair fascinator? It was so delicate and pretty in person! I could have played dress up for hours with all the amazing accessories Beth brought.

That gorgeous, vintage pink bouquet is by the equally talented Elisabeth of BLUSH floral design. I love Dan’s peacock feathered boutonniere. Can you see the peacock feathers tucked into Mandie’s bouquet? Check the neck collage of images!

Pretty gorgeous, right? The furniture is from my FAVORITE rental company, Signature Event Rentals, who are responsible for most of the awesomeness you see. That gorgeous white couch? The clear-backed and hot pink dining chairs?! The leather tufted wall panels?!?! The WHITE dinning table?!?!?! Yeah, they pretty much rule. They’re the best, hands down, and we LOVED having their furniture at the shoot!

Elisabeth created a bed of tightly arranged hot pink carnations for our escort cards, which were pennant flags that I made and hand wrote in gold ink. Antonia from Flower upon Flour blew us away with her tasty little gold petit fours with the hot pink fleur de lis… but the pièce de résistance was definitely her INSANE cake!!

Antonia and I had discussed the color story and inspiration behind the shoot… and when she showed up with this…. we were like… seriously?! A teal cake with a gold birdcage on top and hot pink feathers?!

Jubilee Events coordinated the wedding of Marin and Joseph, who were married in a beautiful and intimate ceremony in the gardens at the Elizabethan Club at Yale University on a Sunday morning in August with a luncheon reception at the historic Union League Cafe.

The bride wore an amazing gown by Monique Lhuillier that just fluttered in the sunny morning breeze. She had on gorgeous Christian Louboutin ballet flats, a veil with a Maria Elena ribbon headband. They had a great looking bridal party — the bridesmaids all chose a dress in a pretty shade of blue. I love the contrast and personality that each individual girl offers! The groom wore a handsome suit from Brooks Brothers and the groomsmen all wore blue striped Brooks Brothers ties.

Marin and Joseph met and fell in love while attending Yale University and wanted to incorporate their love of New Haven into their wedding. I really admired the beautiful and amazing garden behind the Elizabethan Club, which houses original Shakespearean folios and quartos (so romantic!). In the back garden there is a bust of Shakespeare, with an inscription that reads: “I know a bank whereon the wild thyme blows, where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses, and with eglantine..”

Guests arrived into this secret downtown New Haven Garden with beautiful purple flower carnation pomanders on shepherds hooks and chairs. Strung alongside were White Dendrobium orchids and ribbons that fluttered from the trees. The sounds of The Amherst String Ensemble filled the air. Guests found small wicker fans at their seats for cooling themselves (it was hot!) The bride carried a bouquet of antique purple roses mixed with hypericum berries alongside her grandmother’s vintage hankie. It was so gorgeous and romantic!

Marin and Joseph’s interfaith ceremony incorporated some Jewish traditions, like the signing of the Ketubah and breaking of the glass. Their close friends and professors spoke about their love and marriage and the ceremony was officiated by their friend, Judge Jose Cabranes.

After their ceremony guests were handed maps of New Haven and walked from the Elizabethan Club to enjoy a delicious lunch at one of my favorite New Haven restaurants, Union League Cafe. Guests enjoyed music by guitarist, Anna Lisa E. Wald and floral design by my good friend Elisabeth of Blush Floral Design. Guests took home delicious tea favors from Harney & Sons.

A big congratulations to Marin and Joseph!! What an amazing and beautiful wedding. Thanks to all of their spectacular vendors, especially Wendy G. Photography, Blush Floral Design, the staff at the Elizabethan Club, and The Union League Cafe for making Joseph and Marin’s wedding simply one-of-a-kind.

I am SO excited for today’s wedding!!! Melissa and Ned are friends of ours and I get to attend as a guest — so exciting! I was so honored to be apart of Jennifer and Brenda’s wedding. It was an emotional day filled with love, happiness, joy, and a fabulous purple martini. I can still remember when Jennifer and Brenda first contacted me — they said, “Girl, we’ve been watching WAY too much of Platinum Weddings and we need your help!!”

On July 25th, 2009 they celebrated their incredible love for one another overlooking Long Island Sound at Anthony’s Oceanview in New Haven, Connecticut. Surrounded by 80 of their closest family and friends, they exchanged vows they had written for each other in an emotional ceremony. By their sides were their “Best Girls”, Brenda’s best friend and Jennifer’s sister. Their nieces scattered rose petals down the aisle and held onto their wedding bands. When they were pronounced married, they danced up the aisle to McFadden and Whitehead’s “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” (precursor to the epic dance party to come, let me assure you!!). They had a modern and elegant wedding with shades of purple and orange. I love how they integrated interesting floral shapes into their bouquets — aren’t they fun and unusual?!

Jennifer and Brenda wanted to host an amazing party for their family and friends. We brought in white, sleek and modern lounge furniture from Signature Event Rentals. Their couches are so gorgeous! We also used these fabulous Lucite highboys and coffee tables that had an amazing light system. Bistro tables were draped in gorgeous violet pintuck linens, with varying arrangements of floating flowers (tulips, gerbera daisies and orchids). They were accented by orange crush linens on their candy station and martini bar. Take a look at that fabulous luge, created by Bill and Jen of Ice Matters!

Brenda had proposed to Jen on a wine cork (sooo romantic!) so we had wine corks for guests to leave messages of love and encouragement. Their fabulous orange and purple cupcake tower was created by the very talented Suzette of Sweet Cakes in Fairfield. I’ve worked with her on numerous events this year and her confections are not only beautiful to look at, but absolutely delicious!!

Jennifer and Brenda chose some of their favorite candy for favors — dum dum pops, orange jelly bellys, dove chocolates, hersey kisses. Delish! Jubilee Events provided the candy jars, scoops, and pretty little signs that we modeled after their invitations (also designed by us!)

Jennifer and Brenda had such great style and picked up decor items through out their planning. They added splashes of color to the lounge through pretty purple pillows. They used pretty candle holders with dangling crystals and orange votives on the highboys and found lots of cylinder containers for their modern centerpieces. Each month when they came up from their home down south they’d have a ton of beautiful little accent pieces for me. It was so fun and amazing to see their vision come together!

Big props to my girl Robin Dini for her amazing and talented artistic eye. She did an incredible job capturing the details and emotion of their day!

Today is Veena and Rich’s wedding in Stamford, Connecticut! I’m so excited for them and their families who have traveled great distances to be here. Matt and Kim were married on May 30th, 2009 at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Assumption Church in Westport, Connecticut. Immediately following, guests enjoyed a gorgeous preppy and nautical inspired fete at the Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport. Kim and Matt were an amazing couple to work with! At our initial meeting I knew we’d be a good match — they wanted a preppy, tailored, and nautical wedding in blue and yellow with pops of red.

The day began with Kim getting ready at her apartment with her parents and bridesmaids. Kim had her makeup done by the talented artists at Naomi’s Makeup Studio out of West Hartford. Kim wore a gorgeous and simple Matthew Christopher satin gown with an elbow length Mantilla Veil, purchased at Bridal Trousseau on Main in Branford. Her bridal bouquet (by Peter’s Wholesale Florists in Stamford) was made up of white peonies, yellow ranunculous, and white hydrangea wrapped in yellow and white polka dot grosgrain ribbon. It was absolutely stunning!

Matt and his Groomsmen spent the later morning and early afternoon having lunch at his parents house. They wore gorgeous seersucker jackets from Brooks Brothers with a navy brooks brothers tie and khakis. The groom wore a head of ranunculous as his boutonniere and his groomsmen wore a single yellow rose. The flower girls and ringer bearer were all Matt’s nieces and they wore the most darling little red and yellow polka dot dresses!

After their beautiful ceremony at Assumption Church in Westport, Matt and Kim went to the spot that was very meaningful and sentimental to them. A place where they spent many nights watching the sun set as a couple. They love Combo Beach in Westport and try to visit at least once every weekend during the summer months. Her love of rowing and his love of the water really drew them together. After the ceremony, Kim took off her gorgeous veil and pinned a fabulous little white flower in her hair. Doesn’t she look STUNNING?

The reception was held at the Saugatuck Rowing Club in Westport. The views? Stunning. It was obvious to them that it was the perfect location, which would marry her love of rowing and his love of the water. Guests were greeted on the blue slate patio overlooking the Saugatuck River and the docks that lead out into the water. They enjoyed Matt and Kim’s signature cocktail, the Pimms Cup, served from large sea glass canisters into high ball glasses which were garnished with a lemon wheel, cucumber spear, and a seersucker swizzle stick. Heaven.

The tablescapes were gorgeous and filled with SO many details. We used navy linen as a base, and brought in beautiful beechwood chiavari chairs with white pads from Party Rentals, Ltd out of Greenwich. Centerpieces were of one tall, french galvanized bucket filled with white peonies, ranunculous and hydrangea. They were fluffy and tightly filled — so gorgeous! There were three satellite arrangements of yellow and white gerbera daisies in smaller galvanized buckets. Each bucket had the same yellow and white polka dot grosgrain ribbon from Kim’s bouquet wrapped around them. The taller, french galvanized buckets had thick red grosgrain ribbon.

Each place setting had a rattan charger with an accompanying blue polka dot plate and clear glass saucer for the chilled gazpacho, all rented from Party Rentals, Ltd. Their navy napkins were rolled and tied onto them was a menu “tag”, which we created in the round. It had a seersucker boarder and a cute little yellow grommet, tied together with white grosgrain ribbon. Each guest received a cute little galvanized bucket filled with red swedish fish. We created red and blue favor tags with lyrics to their first dance song by U2 and tied it on with red grosgrain ribbon.

Each table was named after a New England town that held special significance to the bride and groom. Places like Westport, Newport, Nantucket, Block Island, Bar Harbor, Mystic…. we even inserted the GPS coordinates of each location onto their table sign. A fun little detail we carried through out the event — like on the custom stamp we made for their invitations!

Guests dinned on chilled gazpacho, surf and turf with filet mignon and lobster tail with steamed red potatoes and corn on the cob. There were even toothpicks on the table for pickin’ corn out of your teeth! The entire event was catered by the Club’s restaurant, Riverview Restaurant. Chef Danny and his team did a fabulous job!

Their delicious cake was made by Sweet Cakes out of Fairfield, Connecticut. Suzette did a fabulous job bringing Kim and Matt’s vision to life. The guests REALLY enjoyed the cake and complimented on how delectable it was! We displayed escort cards on a red linen wrapped cork board with some retro metal pushpins. It was perfect! We also had custom napkins, swizzle sticks, and coasters made for the event. The beautiful calligraphy was done by Lisa Ridgley of Pen and Ink Calligraphy out of Westminister, Maryland. I LOVE Lisa. She is so good to our brides and does AMAZING work! One of the little details I loved most about this wedding that you may not be able to notice was the lowercase letters we used on everything — even their yellow monogrammed letters that were tied to the back of their chairs. When I think preppy I think kate spade and j. crew, so we channeled some of their branding. A little detail that goes a LONG way! In lieu of a traditional guest book, guests also signed rowing oars. They also dropped their cards in a lobster trap.

Guests danced the night away to music provided by Jim Nuzzo of Dance to the Music Entertainment. He did an AWESOME job! Photographs are courtesy of Kelley and Todd Whittaker (website coming soon). Matt and Kim made their grand exit via a sparkler send off and rounded out the evening across the street with their family and friends, sipping Margareta’s at Vivas!

Dagney and Michael were married on May 16th, 2009 at Calvary Church in Trumbull, Connecticut in a moving ceremony filled with personal touches and a lot of song! Their reception was held at Oxford Airport, in Oxford Connecticut in one of the working hangars. It was truly spectacular! But before we delve into the details of their one-of-a-kind event, here is their incredible love story.

They met after being matched up on eHarmony. They were two pilots who had individual loves of aviation, they hit it off from the start. Dagney grew up flying planes with her Dad and Michael is a pilot in the military. Their love of planes and their faith brought them together. Michael actually proposed in an airplane as he flew them to a celebratory dinner. One word to describe that: amazing! I think you’ll be hearing me say that a lot about this wedding.

When Michael & Dagney contacted me in January to help plan and coordinate they had one idea – they wanted to be married in an airplane hangar. If you knew them and their families (with long aviation history) it was a no brainer. People may have said it couldn’t be done, but they had an incredible set of people helping them to pull it together.

The event was catered by emily’s catering, where guests dined on a duet of chicken and salmon with delicious vegetables passed around the table family style. They had the most incredible band, The Joe Holmes Swing Band from Norwalk, Connecticut. They LIT UP the hangar and provided throw back, 1940’s war time sound. They were nothing short of amazing! Bouquets and floral centerpieces were provided by Flore Floral Design in Southbury, Connecticut. The cake was provided by a family friend, Crystal, who did an incredible job! Lastly, the event was captured by very good friends of Jubilee, the talented group at Robert & Kathleen Photographers. They did an amazing job of telling the story of how Dagney & Michael’s day began and ended. Finally, Jubilee Events (that’s us!) coordinated and planned the event. Big thanks to Style Me Pretty who featured this event (before we even did!) in their Friday edition. Thanks Abby and Eddye!

The day began with the bride getting ready at her parents’ home with her maids.

She wore a gorgeous dress by Maggie Sottero and her mother’s vintage 1960′s veil which was cathedral length. Believe me when I tell you it was magnificent!

The ceremony was held at the Bride’s church in Trumbull, Connecticut. Dagney walked down the aisle first with her father, and turned around to face the church doors while she waited for her groom to come and receive her. It was very moving and unique!

After the ceremony guests waited outside for the sabre arch. They dashed into an awaiting black towne car and off they went to their amazing reception!

Their reception was held at Oxford Airport in Oxford, Connecticut. I think everyone, guests and vendors alike, were overwhelmed with how awesome it was to be celebrating in a working airplane hangar, surrounded by 7 planes. Dagney and Michael had a vintage 1948 Beech D-15S flown in especially for the occasion. It was gorgeous and the perfect centerpiece to their event. We positioned it, along with two other planes, behind the The Joe Holmes Swing Band and black and white checkered dance floor.

When guest arrived to the hangar they were greated with fabulous hor’dourves and cocktails from emily’s catering. They were invited to look at photographs that documented the couple’s families aviation history, sign their handmade wooden propeller, and grab their boarding pass which promised to take them to an amazing location that was significant to the couple. Each table was assigned a gate number for the guests to fly out from.

The tablescape was dreamed up by Dagney’s mom, who loves to dress up tables! Her and I worked together on the design, but all the credit goes to her. They really loved a family style table setting and wanted something unqiue, so we used rectangular tables instead of round or square. They had custom yellow overlays made to bring in a pop of color, and we brought in stone slabs to pay homage to their new last name (Stone). Sitting atop each stone slab was a floral centerpiece by Flore Floral Design. Filled with spray roses, ranunculous and other yellow and white flowers arranged in a glass pedestal vase. The centerpieces were flanked by hand cut lilacs in silver mint julep cups and tall fluted vases with hand cut branches, both of which Jubilee Events arranged. It was really breath taking!

The cake was lovely — white buttercream with green scroll work and their monogram on the second tier. It was decorated with pretty yellow roses and sat on top of a fun green poodle linen that Dagney’s mother picked out. It was simply gorgeous with one of the planes as a back drop!

They danced their first song to At Last by Etta James, as sung by their good friend Ana. It was extremely romantic! Guests danced the night away to big band 1940′s war era songs preformed by the The Joe Holmes Swing Band, who I can’t stop raving about. They were amazing!!

Their final exit came about a half hour before the soiree ended. Originally they were to fly out, but because the fog was so thick and bad, we had to come up with a Plan C. Dagney’s father has a vintage 1967 porsche and they used that as their get away car. We opened up the hangar doors and invited all the guests to join us outside on the ramp. Bubbles were passed out on silver trays as we got the bride and groom ready for their final exit. With the car in position, they made their way outside and into the awaiting car. It was quite emotional! My favorite image from the night is above. Robert and Kathleen really captured the day so perfectly; their images are amazing. We loved working with them!!

Dagney and Michael — we wish you all the love, joy and happiness the world has to offer. It was an amazing experience that I am so proud to be apart of!
