Colorful & Quirky Styled Photoshoot at the Ocean House of Watch Hill, Rhode Island

In May of 2010, Carla Ten Eyck and I taught a 3 day intensive workshop called Collaborate & Create, which focused on working with a community of talents to pull together a styled shoot. Along with an amazing group of attendees, we also had the support and creative styling of our usual team to help pull together FIVE gorgeous shoots in 3 days!

We designed this shoot to be rich in color and slightly quirky. There are a lot of textures and patterns and they all work really well together. Sometimes people get scared of mixing patterns and textures and instead, stick to a very generic formula of matching colors and fabrics. In some instances, that look can be wonderful– but with most designs, I really encourage you to embrace texture, color, and patterns. It will make your look three dimensional and more interesting!

This shoot primarily took place on the gorgeous front wrap around porch of The Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. We set up a beautiful tablescape, which has become one of my all time favorites, with mix-matched china (some vintage, some rental), vintage silverware, hanging mirrors, vintage and rental linens, and an AMAZING centerpiece chandelier that hung above the table (with a little help from our team!).

This shoot was also debuted on Style Me Pretty last week in a lovely feature. Go check it out!
