In Love: Calligraphy

I love calligraphy. There is no denying that when you receive an invitation hand addressed by one of these artists, you feel so special! Having your wedding invitations hand calligraphed may seem like an antiquated tradition that you don’t need to do (printing envelopes on the computer is so easy, right?). Well, it is an old tradition, but one you shouldn’t skip if you can afford. A wedding invitation isn’t just any old invitation to a party: it is something extremely intimate and important and it should be treated as such!

Take a look at some of this calligraphy eye candy. Notice how the styles are so different? The options out there are truly endless. These are some of my absolute favorite calligraphy artists.

  1. I’m loving Kathryn Murray’s style… it’s so gorgeous! I used to think I had nice handwriting, well not after this post! :)

  2. I have to say that I was a calligraphy doubter but my Mom insisted…I was so glad she did. The color matched the envelope liner and it just set such a nice tone. Not something I’d splurge on every day for but worth it I think for a wedding invitation.

My friend just used http://www.calligraphy-experts.com/ which is a less expensive option – it turned out very nicely!

  3. Love the ideas here Candice. I went with calligraphy for mine and Joe’s wedding in St. Thomas, and it worked out great! It always has a nice presence and shows attention to detail which is always and important ingredient in any wedding!

  4. I have to agree – I love calligraphy too. You really do get that special feel when you get a hand-addressed envelope. For our wedding, I actually tried my hand at the calligraphy myself, and I think them came out pretty nice. It was a lot of work, but really worth it, especially to look at the one that we saved (addressed to ourselves as Mr. and Mrs., corny I know, but cute to look back on.)

Love this post – you rock as always! :)

  5. Robin Dini says:

anything handwritten is so elegant and personal. Love this! If you brides out there have the time do invest, handwrite!!
