A Jubilee Event: Nichole & Tim, A Vintage Old Buttonwoods Wedding in Warwick, Rhode Island
Nichole and Tim had one of those weddings where every detail was meaningful, beautiful and styled. It was such an honor to be a part of this wedding for many reasons– but mostly because Nichole is my girl. Becoming fast friends with her was easy– she’s so dang talented, funny, and a joy to be around. You probably already know this, but Nichole is the creative dreamer behind Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design– the hippest and most creative paper company ever. And after seeing her wedding and wedding day paper– all of which she designed– it comes as no surprise how successful she has become in this industry. Her wedding has been featured everywhere from 100 Layer Cake to the newest issue of Gala Weddings Magazine.
The story of Nichole and Tim’s wedding was so eloquently told by Nichole herself in a blog post, and we’ve shared it here below
Don’t forget to peep the wonderful video by Jim Altieri of Vintage Cinema and obviously the stunning images by Carla Ten Eyck!
From the bride…”We were married in the charming neighborhood of Old Buttonwoods in Warwick, Rhode Island and all of our events took place within walking distance of each other. We popped over the the Casino (yup, we walked there!) and had our first look on the bowling lanes. Tim was wearing his heart on his sleeve that day and his tears made my heart melt. In remembrance of my mother, I tied a locket and her gold wedding band to my bouquet. I had worn her ring every day for the past six years only taking it off on this day when I would later receive my wedding ring from Tim.
Tony from Datura: a modern garden was the flower and foliage extraordinaire on hand that day. The only direction we gave him was to create a woodland vibe that included succulents ( I ADORE succulents!), interesting foliage, ferns, branches and orchids. And Queen Anne’s Lace. My mother loved Queen Anne’s Lace. She would tell me that while most people considered it a weed, she chose to see it as a flower growing in the wrong place. My bouquet included a patch of Queen Annes lace, placed at the top where I could see it.
After our first look, we hopped on a golf cart–the preferred mode of transportation for peeps who live in the neighborhood–and took photos on tandem swings. The swings hang from the oldest Buttonwood tree on the peninsula.
The wedding dress chandelier we created was major eye candy at our reception. My father rewired an abandoned brass chandelier and hung it from an overhead beam. That week while scouring thrift stores for finishing touches, we found a vintage white tulle wedding gown that made for a perfect lamp shade. With some wire, safety pins and more tulle (yes, even more tulle!) a beautiful wedding dress light installation was created. It was stunning against the wooden beams and a real show-stopper!
Tag sale elk antlers in all their glory! How sweet is the vintage Louie luggage with our Snug-as-a-Bug blankets? Candice of Jubilee Events scored that beaut on a trip to the Brimfield Flea.
Our dessert table was a hodge-podge of baked goodness that we adore–miniature bananas foster, strawberry shortcakes and chocolate brownie sundaes served in shot glasses, as well as homemade treats. My grandmother is a fabulous baker. Her two signature recipes are chocolate and cream cheese cupcakes with chocolate chips and apple pie. She offered to bake these delicious desserts for our wedding and I loved sharing her treats with all of our guests. We chose to have her apple pie as our wedding cake. The pie plate itself belonged my great grandmother and the milk glass pedestal belonged to Tim’s grandmother. The sign on top of the domed cheese plate reads: “A pie without cheese is like a hug without a squeeze.” –my family’s mantra when it comes to eating apple pie!

Graduation Photoshoot at Elizabeth Park in Hartford, Connecticut
When Beth from The White Dress by the Shore approached us all about doing this shoot, I went back to when I graduated-all the excitement, all the fun! I wanted to infuse every bit of that into this shoot and I wanted to bring in colors and details that made me feel this way. Now, a few years after I’ve graduated, I find myself looking forward to the next big party and wanted to design this so brides and their maids would find inspiration for a special shower or fun luncheon. Yellow and pink were easy to choose because they exude the energy and playfulness you will experience at either event!
The shoot took place in the beautiful Elizabeth Park Rose Garden in Hartford, so I took some inspiration from our surroundings. I wanted the flowers to play a role in everything! Our table was draped in pink, everything from the linens, chargers, and napkins right down to the chairs-it was a girly girl’s dream. Tony from Datura, A Modern Garden created a yellow rose runner down the table with pops of pink peonies. Hope from A Little Imagination Cakes not only designed individual cupcakes with colorful florets, she coupled them with an incredible pink and yellow-layered cake! Beth styled the models in fun sherbet colored dresses that played perfectly off the surrounding flowers. Throw in the charming paper details from Metal Mermaid Press and Carla Ten Eyck Photography and you have the day made!

Nautical Preppy Wedding Photoshoot in Essex, Connecticut for The Connecticut Bride
This past fall we had the fun opportunity to co-create and design a fun, summer editorial shoot for The Connecticut Bride Magazine. Having just come off our fashion obsession of nautical glam, we worked with our creative counterparts to design this fun, preppy, and dressed up version of nautical on the Connecticut shoreline! We worked in your traditional seaside color story– blues, reds and yellows– with a bit of sparkle, lots of stripes and a little kate spade. What I’m also excited about is half my summer accessories got incorporated into this gorgeousness! A huge thank you to our talented team who made the day so fun: Carla Ten Eyck, Beth Chapman, Datura: A Modern Garden, Dana Bartone & Company, A Little Imagination Cakes, Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design, and a HUGE thank you to our dear friend Rachel Edwards at Dreamscapes Design Group for not being just lovely and wonderful, but such a gracious hostess for the day!! An additional thank you to Alison Fischer of The Plumed Serpent in Westport for also participating in this shoot and lending her gorgeous gowns!

I just love this first look– colored shoes, colored jewels, those lockets (! which we all immediately purchased on the spot from Aquinnah and all now proudly own, and hope to not wear all at the same time, accidentally), striped puffy sleeved top, sparkly anchor bag…. love it all! The paper suite that Nichole from Coral Pheasant put together was spectacular. Sign. Me. Up. It was so well executed with so many fun little surprises– which I feel like is her signature.

A Classic Wedding Inspired by Jackie & JFK at The Bee and Thistle Inn and Spa, featured in Gala Weddings Magazine!
In honor of tonight’s soiree at The Bee and Thistle Inn and Spa to celebrate the newest issue of Gala Weddings Magazine, I wanted to share with you all images from the gorgeous photoshoot we collaborated on with our amazing creative team! All of us share a special love for the undeniably beautiful Jackie Kennedy Onassis and have been dying to work together on designing a photoshoot inspired by her classic and effortless style. At Anne Barge‘s market run way show, Beth Chapman and I saw “Jackie” walk down the runway and we instantly knew we had to plan a shoot around this incredible gown that Anne designed, inspired by Jackie’s original dress. It just so happens that our shoot took place on the anniversary of Jackie and John’s magical Newport wedding (not even intended!). We worked with our team to design a classic, yet modernized wedding in shades of hydrangea blue with soft and bright yellows.
Some of my favorite details from this shoot include the customized menus made out of gorgeous satin ribbon with gold foil engraving, the ghost chairs we designed with Datura: A Modern Garden that included inset calligraphy as a place card and boxwood trimming on the chair backs, the classic half wedge of pineapple that guests truly dinned at at Jackie and John’s wedding, the customized blue taffeta skirt and white collared shirt by Coren Moore (Beth’s vision that was designed especially for our shoot), the classic hair and makeup by Dana Bartone, and of course, my own personal Louie Vuitton suitcase as part of the going away look!
