A Wedding Story: Melissa & Pete at L’escale at the Delamar Hotel, Greenwich Connecticut

Melissa and Peter were married on a chilly November evening in Greenwich on the harbor, with a beautiful vintage / deco wedding style with some modern elements. In a color story of crisp white, blue, and silver– they warmed up their palette with shades of amber and orange.

Their ceremony was held in a local church with 200 of their closest family and friends. Melissa wore a stunning Claire Pettibone dress with a gorgeous lace back. Her bridesmaids were beautiful in state blue j.crew dresses and jewels. Datura: A Modern Garden created a stunning bridal bouquet, choosing white paphiopedilum orchids which were so fresh and perfect, accented with only a single green trick dianthus at the center and a few spirals of grass at the base. The bouquet was wrapped with fabric from her mom’s wedding gown. For her maids, Datura chose bronze cymbidium stems with uluhe fern shoots and grass.

The altar was dressed with two massive 14′ tall fall foliage trees at their autumn peak with Moroccan lanterns strung from the branches. The aisles were lined with fresh autumn leaves and accented with over sized lanterns and nearly 200 candles, designed by Datura.

Melissa and Peter’s reception was held at L’escale, a world famous restaurant in downtown Greenwich with the most delicious french food! They took over the entire restaurant, where guests dined in a room filled with thousands of candles and gorgeous long and round tables with two centerpiece designs: a white orchid and candle component composition in slender stemware along with gathering vases with an art-deco style branch centerpiece strung with white vanda orchids and votives in blown glass globes. For their sweetheart table, Datura designed a custom branch cascade with willow and orchids.

We used a mixture of gorgeous La Tavola Linen in the Andalusian in Silver and Nonius in Silver accented with a deep grey pintuck. Their napkins were Dupionique Iridescence in New Moon were folded horizontally across silver beaded chargers with a deco designed circular menu card.

They had an incredible lounge that guests enjoyed toward the end of the evening! L’escale’s long banquets were lined with silk pillows in varying shades of silver and blue, silver pewter chiavari chairs, and mirrored coffee tables. We created unique lounge vignettes with white leather tuffeted ottomans and mirrored coffee tables, along with a velvet tuffeted couch. Datura created varying centerpieces in square mirrored vases and round glass bowls. We lined the patio with hightops in the Nonius Silver and draped the edges of the patio with fabric and uplighting.

Guests danced the evening away to a sick band from Vali Entertainment and a photobooth by Carla Ten Eyck Photography! Check out the gorgeous images below by Katie Slater and after your finished, head over to Vantage Point Films to check out their highlight reel!

Melissa– Pete– thank you SO much for letting me be part of your wedding day. I miss our daily emails and planning pow-wows. I am so happy for you both and wish you all the very best things that life has to offer. XOXOXO!

Feminine & Romantic: Inspirational Shoot at the Cornstalk Hotel in New Orleans | Part I

We’re so excited to finally share our amazing shoot from January that was inspired by one of my all time favorite towns: New Orleans! I’ve traveled to New Orleans many times and love the people, culture, architecture, food, history, art, and their philosophy to let the good times roll! We started out with a small idea: let’s take our creative team on the road and design an editorial shoot in a different location. New Orleans was really the impetus for all the other road projects we’ve done— and the start of something amazing and special for our team. This shoot will always be my favorite for so many reasons, but each time I look back at these gorgeous images I’m reminded of the energy felt on Royal Street that day.

Our team started with our talented photography crew: Carla Ten Eyck, Katie Slater, Sara-Code Kroll, and Carla’s studio manager Dodie of Carla Ten Eyck Photography. The gorgeous fashions, accessories and styling of our models was the vision of Beth Chapman from The White Dress by the Shore. Tony from Datura: A Modern Garden designed all the gorgeous floral and collaborated with me on our epic tablescape! Jennie Fresa and Nedelyn Perry of Jennie Fresa Beauty Library composed our beauty team and created gorgeous looks for our models. To top it off– our friend Tom from Vantage Point Films was there to document the entire trip. You can see his incredible video here! Diana and I round out the rest of the team, accompanied by my friend and colleague Samantha Darr of soirrebliss! in Houston, Texas who came down to hang out and help!

Our morning started off at the historic Cornstalk Hotel, which, I might add, might be the prettiest Southern inn in the French Quarter. The Cornstalk is most famous for it’s iron cornstalk fence and famous guests (one of which is Harriet Beecher Stowe who was inspired to write “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” after visiting the inn). The Inn sits on Royal Street, which we’d later shut down and stage our entire shoot in it’s heart.

This shoot was inspired by fashion, and included a custom Modern Tousseau created just for our shoot. The bride wore a vintage rose applique by Karen Lindner Designs in her hair and jewels by Haute Bride. The classic black tuxedo was provided by Perlis, and the groom wore a sweet little peony boutionerre. The bridesmaid gowns are part of the  Jenny Yoo collection and were in a shade of grey, accentuated by pink fabric flower sash by Twigs & Honey and jewels by Haute Bride. The hot pink shoes are designed by Poetic License. The pink tulip and pink peony bouquet with tulle hem were created by Datura: A Modern Garden. The pink paper “just married” banner was designed and hand made by posh paperie. Bella Umbrella provided the gorgeous white and pink ruffled vintage umbrellas!

up next: what happens when we shut down Royal Street? much more to come! xoxo

Engaged: Melissa and Peter by Katie Slater for Carla Ten Eyck Photography

Melissa and Peter have waited a long time for November to come– and we can’t wait for their wedding in Greenwich, Connecticut! They recently gave Katie Slater a tour of their Brooklyn neighborhood during their engagement session. I don’t know about you, but I think Peter has the coolest hair I’ve ever seen.

Big thanks to Katie Slater for the stunning images! You can see more from this engagement shoot on her blog. Congratulations Melissa and Peter– we can’t wait for November!! xo
