Engaged: Melissa and Peter by Katie Slater for Carla Ten Eyck Photography

Melissa and Peter have waited a long time for November to come– and we can’t wait for their wedding in Greenwich, Connecticut! They recently gave Katie Slater a tour of their Brooklyn neighborhood during their engagement session. I don’t know about you, but I think Peter has the coolest hair I’ve ever seen.

Big thanks to Katie Slater for the stunning images! You can see more from this engagement shoot on her blog. Congratulations Melissa and Peter– we can’t wait for November!! xo

A Country Engagement Session by Carla Ten Eyck Photography, Jim Altieri, Jubilee Events, Datura: A Modern Garden and DD Nickel Beauty

I love to get together with my friends and collaborate… on just about anything. So, in early June I got together with Carla and Mike of Carla Ten Eyck Photography, Jim Altieri, Datura: A Modern Garden, and DD Nickel to put together a fun, impromptu shoot in a super sleuth location. Check out the steamy engagement session below with an amazing video by Jim! Big props to DD and all her fabu accessories. Thanks to all– including Susannah, Liza and Max! xo!

A Winter Wedding Photoshoot: Behind the Scenes

As you know, I’ve been doing a lot of creative and editorial shoots, some of which were featured in BRIDES magazine and Style Me Pretty recently. Over the past 5 months I’ve had the opportunity to work with talented and incredible people. Since we can’t show you the images from our super top secret projects, I wanted to show you some behind-the-scenes images and talk about what we’ve been working on.

This past December we had the opportunity to shoot at an amazing location in the northern hills of Connecticut, The Mayflower Inn and Spa. The setting really inspired so many details of our shoot. In every story we’ve set out to create, the vendors come together and collaborate on almost each aspect. It is truly a team effort – I’m happy to say – with each mind bringing unique and amazing ideas to the table. I have to admit not only am I SO lucky to work with these folks but I have THE BEST time doing it!! On this recent winter inspired shoot, we collaborated with Beth Chapman of White Dress by the Shore, Carla Ten Eyck, Tony of Datura, Dana Bartone, Corine Dell’Orso of Lovely Lollies and the ladies behind Posh Paperie from San Diego.

After several weeks of planning, our day always starts out with the arrival and load-in of our vendors. Our models arrive for hair and makeup, done by the talented stylists at Dana Bartone. Today, Miss Catie Bane waved her magic wand and created a stunning look for our bride-to-be!

Meanwhile, Tony and I are creating details for the shoot with the help of my staff. On this shoot we helped create three tablescapes and a confections table. It was a great opportunity for the new members of Jubilee Events (Ashley, Amanda and Diana) to get their feet wet in the creative process! We had a lot of beautiful pieces for our table and created several different looks at each tablescape. The details from the ladies at Posh Paperie looked amazing — from the escort cards, place cards, banner, pinwheels and pennant flags. We also styled up some incredible sweets created by Corine Dell’Orso of Lovely Lollies. Setting up all these details and tablescapes takes us several hours… we never have any down time!

The floral designer for our shoot was Tony of Datura – A Modern Garden. Tony is truly an artist and created almost all of our floral details right there. He is such a great person to collaborate with. He created a bunch of unique bouquets for our shoot using all different types of textures. He also created all the centerpieces and floral looks on the tables!! We had a lot of birch, some metal, and a variety of gorgeous flowers!!! We set out with a concept for our shoot and have definite ideas in place– but often create a lot of things on the spot that we didn’t intend or think of. Tony might be the best person I know at doing that! He’s so talented and creative.

Beth Chapman and Kelley of White Dress by the Shore always style our models. Beth brings a truck load of fashions and accessories and is constantly adjusting a necklace, bolero or fixing a wayward strand of hair. She also gets stuck holding all the accessories in the bitter cold!! Our shoots wouldn’t be anything with out these two–that’s for sure. They are fully responsible for making our models look incredible!!! I love to sit back and watch Carla shoot Beth looks– Beth, Kelley and I always get giddy at how gorgeous everything is!!

Once a shot is set up that’s where Carla Ten Eyck comes in. Seriously– without this girl, these shoots wouldn’t even be possible, and we wouldn’t have ANY fun. Once we get a shot ready Carla jumps in to shoot, direct, and make things happen. She’s the best at what she does! She also keeps us all laughing, excited, on our toes, and enjoying the hard work we’re putting into each project. She has some of the best ideas and is so fun to collaborate with.

In the end, we all work together on many details and are apart of each shot being set up. You can see us all pitching in to achieve the final outcome… which is always incredible!!

I hope to have more behind the scenes from some previous shoots we’ve done and most definitely New Orleans when we get back!!

xoxo

Laundry Inspired Engagement Session

I came across this engagement session by Clayton Austin (and found on Green Wedding Shoes) and just had to share! What is it about laundry and an open field that is so sexy? What a hot couple! To see more images from this shoot visit Green Wedding Shoes.

Do yourself a favor and ditch your GAP cardigan for your engagement shoot and do something fun.

Email’s back to normal. Happy Monday!

Vendor Spotlight: Eric Langlois of raw photo design

It’s been WAY too long since I did a vendor spotlight on some cool Connecticut talent. I figured I’d start back up our series with one of my favorite photographers (and studio roomie) Eric Langlois of raw photo design. Eric’s style truly lives up to his business tagline — a fusion of art and atmosphere. Eric did my pre-wedding trash the dress so I have some first hand knowledge on how awesome he really is!

Eric isn’t only a wedding photographer but is also well known for his boudoir portraits. Right now he is running an awesome promo for ladies (and couples):

Here are some of my favorite images of Eric from this current season…

Oh, did I also mention that Eric has a super hot wife, Amber (pictured below), who also helps him run the business?

This post just wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t make a debut :)

To learn more about Eric visit his website and blog at rawphotodesign.com. The best part? Eric is global and shoots all over!

Teaser: Rich + Veena = Mr. & Mrs. Williams

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of coordinating the absolutely fabulous wedding of Veena and Rich. Their photographer, Carrie Draghi of Carrie Draghi Photography surprised me with an email of teaser pictures this morning! I’m totally psyched to be able to share them with you — they’re gorgeous!!

Our Engagement Pictures

When Mike and I thought out doing our engagement pictures we wanted to do something that was uniquely about us. We’re such a relaxed couple and we love to go with the flow and enjoy the moment. We not only wanted our engagement shoot to reflect our personalities, but the things that we love. Mike loves his fast car and his motorcycle and I love photography and clothes! Totally unrelated to one another but when you put them together its meant to be! We decided to visit The Mayflower Inn & Spa in Washington, Connecticut for the bulk of our shoot. They were so accommodating and friendly to us and it made the most beautiful backdrop for our session. After, we headed over to Hopkins Vineyard in New Preston, Connecticut for some last minute shots.

Here are some of my absolute favorite pictures from our session with Robert and Kathleen, who did an incredible job of photographing us. There are also additional pictures posted on here on their blog!

Photoshoot at The New Haven Lawn Club with Carla Ten Eyck, Datura, White Dress by the Shore and Jennie Fresa

Last Tuesday I had the fun opportunity of modeling for Carla Ten Eyck + Team on a photo shoot they were doing at the New Haven Lawn Club (which is super dreamy by the way… all the unique rooms and spaces, plus that checkered black and white floor!), with The White Dress by the Shore, Datura, and Jennie Fresa Beauty. It was a ton of fun! I wanted to share some of the photographs of all their beautiful work, including the insane floral designs of Datura.

Arn’t they GORGEOUS??

Yeah…. its a shawl… made out of orchids!!

Can you believe this parasol made out of FLOWERS and LEAVES? It was so angelic! I want one!

Jennie Fresa and her studio did all the hair and make up for the day. They did an AMAZING job. Jennie is launching her own product line and used all of her products on us too!

All the dresses, including that fun short little white dress, were all courtesy of our friend Beth Chapman at The White Dress by the Shore. My favorite dress was the red Jenny Yoo one above…. it is so beautiful!! I’m considering ordering one for our rehearsal dinner!

To see more beautiful images visit Carla Ten Eyck, Erik Maziarz, Katie Slater, Graham Scobey and Ashley Scobey.

So.. after this post… its all about my wedding. Stay tuned!

Things We Love, Vol. #3

Photograph by Stephanie Willams and courtesy of The Brides Cafe Blog

This is one of my favorite weekly posts. I love to star my favorite blog posts through out the week and share them with you all. I also really enjoy reading YOUR weekly round up posts as they always point me in the direction of very talented people!

Okay, so the photograph above? I am loving this pink and navy wedding posted on The Brides Cafe Blog…. everything… the bridesmaids dresses… the flower girls cardigans… ALL of it… I LOVE IT. So much style!

I love this Mary Norton chiffon rosette purse featured on SevenEight…. it is super dreamy.

Real Simple‘s advice to accessorize with shimmer instead of a scarf this season… love their choices. I agree, a little shimmer on the collar bone makes such a difference!

I have a love of chalkboards, and had to share 8 cool chalkboard finds on Real Simple’s blog.

Having an e-session soon? Take note of inspiring details from style me pretty!

A little floral inspiration from Sarah of Party Perfect. Just what you need on a gloomy and rainy day!

Love banners, especially this colorful DIY celebrate banner from Once Wed.

I’m totally drooling over these Save the Dates and Invitations from Katie and Ben posted on Brooklyn Bride… i’m such a sucker for awesome packaging!!

I love the crystals and chandeliers from this wedding featured on style me pretty.

These stylish bridal sashes posted on Classic Bride are gorgeous.. if you know me, you know I love embellished belts (with flowers!) so these are right up my alley!

Real Connecticut Weddings: Lisa & Marc | Part III

Isn’t Lisa just one of the most GORGEOUS brides you have ever seen? She totally rocked it for our favorite photographers, Robert and Kathleen. My favorite photograph from this set is Lisa with her parents as they are set to come down the aisle. Can’t you see how excited and proud her parents are? Love how it is captured!

Stay tuned for more goodies from Lisa & Marc’s reception!

The Vendors

Photography by the uber talented Robert and Kathleen Photographers; The bride wore an amazing gown by Alvina Valenta as did her bridesmaids. The bride’s hair and makeup was done by Dana Bartone; their purple and white floral designs were provided by E.T. at Hot Petunia ; the ceremony and reception was at the Delamar Hotel and catered by l’escale restaurant, located in Greenwich, Connecticut; their delicious cake was compliments of Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes, located in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Connecticut Weddings 2008: The Bride & Groom

Most couples can’t wait for that moment after (or, as we suggest, before!) their ceremony where they get to slink away from the hustle and bustle of wedding day and be with one another. That quiet time together with your photographer? Savior it! It is one of the few moments through out the day where you can relish in your love for one another… and of course, get some fabulous pictures! Here are my favorite husband and wife moments, courtesy of Carla Ten Eyck Photography, Orchard Cove Photography, RAW Photo Design, RJT Pictures, Lam Photography, and Justin & Mary Marantz.

Connecticut Weddings 2008: The Ceremony

I’m not sure that this collection of pictures needs an introduction. They are the reason why we do what we do! Here are some of my favorite snapshots from the literal “I Do’s” of this year. Leading off the post is my absolute favorite picture, which I gush about to Rob Trenske on a daily basis. No really, I do. I don’t know why I love this picture so much — maybe it is the movement of the picture, the way the couple is locked in an unscripted kiss, the bubbles, the the vintage colors, or the guests’ silhouettes in the background.

Another favorite of mine is from Rob & Kathleen Trenske, too. This photograph shows the pure jubilation and love of that first kiss as man and wife (check out their family rejoicing in the background!)

And now for more equally amazing ceremony moments…

Photographs courtesy of Carla Ten Eyck Photography, Robin Dini Photography, RAW Photo Design, RJT Pictures, Lam Photography, and Justin & Mary Marantz.
