A Jubilee Event: Nichole & Tim, A Vintage Old Buttonwoods Wedding in Warwick, Rhode Island

Nichole and Tim had one of those weddings where every detail was meaningful, beautiful and styled. It was such an honor to be a part of this wedding for many reasons– but mostly because Nichole is my girl. Becoming fast friends with her was easy– she’s so dang talented, funny, and a joy to be around. You probably already know this, but Nichole is the creative dreamer behind Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design– the hippest and most creative paper company ever. And after seeing her wedding and wedding day paper– all of which she designed– it comes as no surprise how successful she has become in this industry. Her wedding has been featured everywhere from 100 Layer Cake to the newest issue of Gala Weddings Magazine.

The story of Nichole and Tim’s wedding was so eloquently told by Nichole herself in a blog post, and we’ve shared it here below :) Don’t forget to peep the wonderful video by Jim Altieri of Vintage Cinema and obviously the stunning images by Carla Ten Eyck!

From the bride…”We were married in the charming neighborhood of Old Buttonwoods in Warwick, Rhode Island and all of our events took place within walking distance of each other. We popped over the the Casino (yup, we walked there!) and had our first look on the bowling lanes. Tim was wearing his heart on his sleeve that day and his tears made my heart melt. In remembrance of my mother, I tied a locket and her gold wedding band to my bouquet. I had worn her ring every day for the past six years only taking it off on this day when I would later receive my wedding ring from Tim.

Tony from Datura: a modern garden was the flower and foliage extraordinaire on hand that day. The only direction we gave him was to create a woodland vibe that included succulents ( I ADORE succulents!), interesting foliage, ferns, branches and orchids. And Queen Anne’s Lace. My mother loved Queen Anne’s Lace. She would tell me that while most people considered it a weed, she chose to see it as a flower growing in the wrong place. My bouquet included a patch of Queen Annes lace, placed at the top where I could see it.

After our first look, we hopped on a golf cart–the preferred mode of transportation for peeps who live in the neighborhood–and took photos on tandem swings. The swings hang from the oldest Buttonwood tree on the peninsula.

The wedding dress chandelier we created was major eye candy at our reception. My father rewired an abandoned brass chandelier and hung it from an overhead beam. That week while scouring thrift stores for finishing touches, we found a vintage white tulle wedding gown that made for a perfect lamp shade. With some wire, safety pins and more tulle (yes, even more tulle!) a beautiful wedding dress light installation was created. It was stunning against the wooden beams and a real show-stopper!

Tag sale elk antlers in all their glory! How sweet is the vintage Louie luggage with our Snug-as-a-Bug blankets? Candice of Jubilee Events scored that beaut on a trip to the Brimfield Flea.

Our dessert table was a hodge-podge of baked goodness that we adore–miniature bananas foster, strawberry shortcakes and chocolate brownie sundaes served in shot glasses, as well as homemade treats. My grandmother is a fabulous baker. Her two signature recipes are chocolate and cream cheese cupcakes with chocolate chips and apple pie. She offered to bake these delicious desserts for our wedding and I loved sharing her treats with all of our guests. We chose to have her apple pie as our wedding cake. The pie plate itself belonged my great grandmother and the milk glass pedestal belonged to Tim’s grandmother. The sign on top of the domed cheese plate reads: “A pie without cheese is like a hug without a squeeze.” –my family’s mantra when it comes to eating apple pie!

Jubilee Events Featured In The Newest Edition of Southern New England Weddings: Destination Edition

Our modern, clean and sophisticated shoot for Southern New England Weddings was so much fun to design. We don’t have anything like it in our portfolio and I had been dying to collaborate on something like this for a while. We were largely inspired by a clean color palette, unique and interesting textures (like metal and acrylic) and a gorgeous Givenchy/Riccardo Tisci dress in my search for inspiration for the story board. Belle Mer was the perfect place to shoot this editorial with it’s simplistic decor, white backdrops and as Carla mentioned in the behind-the-scenes video, amazing light!

As our shoot design progressed it sort of morphed into this obsession with taxidermy and a statement decor piece that we wanted to create. Between myself, Nichole of Coral Pheasant and the incredible Tony of Datura: A Modern Garden, we conceptualized this deer head escort card wall nearly 7 1/2 feet tall and completely covered in over 700 varieties of white and ivory roses (from the most wonderful rose grower, Passion Growers). Radic, right? To date, it is my absolute favorite thing we’ve EVER done at a photoshoot– and it almost didn’t happen! Believe it or not, white resin deer heads are hard to come by. After a fighting match with the folks at zgallerie who couldn’t express ship me my deer head in time (!) we scowered decor stores, online retailers, salvage stores… everything from this side of the Mississippi to procure a white resin deer head. We came up with nothing! Total failure. It was quite tragic… until… Tony came across a discarded taxidermy deer head form the day before our shoot with no ears or antlers. Score! And in true Datura: A Modern Garden fashion that deer head not only had the prettiest Styrofoam ears but also curly willow antlers and was painted a magnificent shade of white!

Some more incredible details from the shoot include the paper suite designed by Coral Pheasant, which included laser cut metal engraved invitations mounted to a python booklet. Whhaaat? Nichole also created laser engraved and hand painted gold / clear acrylic menu cards and escort cards, which was inspired by a decadent acrylic/ghost end table with exposed metal brackets found in elle decor. These are a MUST for us to reproduce at one of our events and is truly an incredible statement piece!

One thing I can’t get over is the insane centerpiece Tony and his team created using curly willow and hanging white curcumin suspended above one of our rentable vases. We used a luxurious linen from Wildflower Linens in a shimmering gold paillettes with gold “saturn” chargers at each place setting from Rentals Unlimited. Each place setting had a neatly folded white silk shantung napkin with an acrylic menu card with handmade paper garlands from Kristina Marie.

Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the shore was our talented fashion stylist and pulled together all the fashion and accessories for our model. She created three separate, modern looks using gowns from UK designer David Fielden, Amsale, and Coren Moore! And now the gorgeous images from the insanely creative Carla Ten Eyck… (be sure to read her blog post too!).

Thanks to such an incredible team for their love, laughs and creativity. We had so much fun on this warm July afternoon and can’t wait to do it again! Don’t forget to pick up your copy of Southern New England Weddings: Destinations to see all this goodness in print. Until next time… xo!
