For several months we’ve been planning a feminine meets masculine inspired photoshoot after seeing the most recent looks at NYFW. I absolutely love this look and have been dying to do something inspired by Alexander McQueen’s after seeing the Savage Beauty exhibit at the MET in 2011. I fell in love with his expert tailoring and fall / winter collection of 1998-99 for Givenchy! Our feminine meets masculine look can be easily achieved in styling your wedding or next event; think about clean, tailored lines mixed with textures that are remarkably feminine. For a dress– a structured bodice with a romantic tulle skirt; cleanly designed tables using interesting textures like leather, mixed with ruffled flowers like peonies, garden roses and ranunculus; notably masculine drinks like scotches and whiskey served in feminine shaped glassware. To me, determining the balance between masculine and feminine is a fun and exciting challenge. A few weeks ago I told Nichole from Coral Pheasant that I was fairly confident I single handily re-energized the chevron revolution on pinterest. She laughed and reminded me that I wasn’t that popular. In all seriousness, there seems to be a chevronaissance as the pattern has come up everywhere! I love it oh-so-very-much as it’s a modern take on a classic stripe. You can incorporate chevron into your wedding fairly easy, but just be careful that you don’t overdo it. I recommend using it in interesting and unique ways with blocks of vibrant colors and another pattern. Xo!

This past weekend was glorious! With a well deserved weekend off, I caught up on many important things: sex and the city episodes, online shopping which involved a major chloe purchase, and my netflix wishlist which included Valentino: The Last Emperor. Watching Mr. Valentino prepare for his 45th Anniversary collection and retirement was riveting– and it also reminded me that I’ve been straight up sweatin’ the color red.I’ve managed to purchase a killer red jacket from j.crew (along with a bright red dress and sweet red pumps… opps). I’ve been rockin’ my  favorite red mac lipstick for a while too. What is it about the color red that’s got me switching out the pink from my wardrobe? I think the reason why I love it most is it exudes confidence.

Considering refreshing your hangars with some new, vibrant red pieces. It’s a big color this year at j.crew and kate spade. My favorite way to wear red is to wear it from head to toe. Red dress? Check. Red jacket? Check. Red shoes, lips, belt and bag? Che-ck! Wearing all one color can be really dramatic and bold. I’d die to design an all red event with neutral touches! Someday I might be able to add the ultimate red piece to my collection: a red valentino. A girl can dream, right?
