It’s safe to say that I’m basically nuts about coral right now. Coral lipstick? Check. Coral pants? Check. Coral Chloe bag? Cheeeeccckk! What I love even more about Coral is pairing it with a super neutral color story– crisp khaki colors, ivories, whites, shades of grey. It makes that one burst of color pop even more. My ultimate fav? Skinny khaki trousers, crisp white collared shirt, gold accessories with pop of coral lipstick. A simple but effective accessory! I’m also crushin’ on coral + animal prints. Coral meets leopard print and fur? Hi. This leads me to my next conclusion: coral also isn’t just for summer. Brights are going to be very popular this fall– especially paired with neutrals. So dust off your tweed skirt and pair it with that amazing coral cardigan you’ve been sporting all summer.

So, how can you incorporate this same coral aesthetic into your event? Start with a neutral backdrop and build in subtle coral accents like khaki bridesmaids dresses with gold jewels and coral bouquets; oyster linens with a coral napkin and simple coral floral arrangements; ivory crane with gold emboss invitations and a coral envelope. It’s hard to believe that half of 2011 is already over and summer is in full swing! It’s hard not to be inspired by this upcoming holiday weekend so I created a fun and stylish inspiration board with you in mind. What are your favorite 4th of July traditions? Truth be told, I’ve been hard core rockin’ a blue stripe with sequin and anything sparkley for some time. I love the idea of dressing up something that otherwise would be consider super casual. I’m on a mission to design a nautical glam wedding– with lots of glitter and sparkle! The key to achieving this look is the right balance between casual and dressed up. For daytime, I love the sequin blue and white striped shirt paired with some jeans and glitter ballet flats. For evening, the sequin skirt paired with a blue and white striped shirt is perfect. Dress it up with some understated heals, an over-the-top sequin clutch, and bold red lips. A big “installation” of crystal bracelets going up your forearm would look amazing!

Translate this into a wedding by using blue and white striped linens with glitter and sparkle accent pieces if you want to be on the more casual side. For an evening wedding, go heavy on the glitz by using sequin linens and nautical details in your napkin, paper story, food, and unique decor ideas.

Let’s face it–at this point of the year, I’m sure the majority of New England is tired of the wet weather, may it be snow or rain. I can tell you I’ve been getting a little cranky from my Yankees suffering rain delays, but that’s what happens when we transition from winter into spring. We are all craving the sun and its warmth on our faces… We can’t wait to prance around in flip flops and the pretty sun dresses we all stow away each winter. I watch the news everyday with hopeful anticipation that the temperature will be nearing the 50s or 60s… dare I say 70s?

However, I take a step back and realize that rain can provide us with a hint of fun, maybe even excitement. No, I’m not suffering from cabin fever; I’m just finding the artistic side of Mother Nature. It has been a ongoing joke throughout the creative photo shoots we have put together that our time has come to an end when the rain begins. Rain has snuck up on us during our time in New Orleans and Costa Rica–both trips, as well as a few other adventures. At the moment you’re thinking about all the things you have to scramble and salvage, but when all is said and done and you take a look at those images, you see the extraordinary beauty underlined by those fallen drops.

So today I feel inspired by the rain. Join me with your stylish rain boots and enjoy this warm weather that is right around the corner!

Generous and gorgeous bride Alma bid on our donated services for an auction to raise money for Wish Upon a Wedding, a non-profit charity founded on the principle of giving someone with a terminal illness the opportunity to marry the love of their life. I was so excited to design an inspiration board for her– focusing on the gorgeous color story she had developed of purples. With some adjectives and a few images to go on, I designed the below inspiration board!

With the warm air on Saturday I was reminded that spring is right around the corner. I’m nearly ready for blooming branches, car rides with the windows down, and those pesky birds chirping outside our bedroom window. Call it what you will.. lavender, plum, lilac, orchid, beet, eggplant, pansy, amethyst, aubergine, violet and wisteria… I just love the color purple.

Costa Rica is an amazing country to have your destination wedding! Rich in culture, nature, and the good life, Costa Rica has become one of my favorite places in the world. The air is clean, the water clear, the rain forests dense with colorful vegetation and animals. Having been to Costa Rica twice last year, I was really inspired by the surrounding nature and Anthropologie’s newest catalog. Don’t they go hand-in-hand? The 70’s vibe is so stylin’ right now and I just love mixing patterns. I feel like sometimes people get nervous mixing patterns, and while you need to do it well in order for it to work, the end result has a major style impact! The best piece of advice in mixing patterns is to make sure one element is cohesive— color. If you can match tonality of color your patterns can range in whatever style and design you choose!

This board oozes an element of quirkiness and takes advantage of all that Costa Rica has to offer. I never advocate fighting with natural elements— you should embrace them! We have a lot of elements happening here, but a repeat of color and style. I love the vintage travel posters, the gorgeous anthropologie painting with the suitcase and shoes (the muse for this board!) and that amazing photograph of the Costa Rican rain forest.

Since our trips to Costa Rica have resulted in a incredible collection of work, we’re going to be showcasing our images by Carla Ten Eyck and her team on the first level of The White Dress by the shore. Our friend Jim Altieri from Vintage Cinema will also be showcasing his recent work from our November shoot as well. We’re so excited about our Destination Inspirations Event happening at The White Dress by the shore on Sunday, March 20th from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. We’ve already revealed two of our destinations that will be shown at our event: Capri and New England.

Our third Destination takes us back over to Europe to one of my favorite cities which continues to be a constant source of inspiration for our personal and professional projects here at Jubilee Events. Paris. What’s not to like about the city of lights and the city of love? Cobblestone streets, croissants, Bordeaux, Champs de Elysee, croque madame, The Metro, Marie Antoinette, corner street cafes, Chanel, Dior, Louboutin, Vuitton, Givenchy, YSL… need I say more? With this Parisian inspired board we took a cue from the French ballet and a place I heart with every fiber of my macaron loving being: Ladurée. I love the idea of being inspired by tulle and tutus, high buns, dramatic makeup, and those beautiful bites of perfection from Ladurée. We took the signature Ladurée green as a starting point and worked in the colors of champagne, gold, and brown to accentuate.

When being inspired by Paris, remember the gorgeous architecture of the city (no matter where you are– everything is beautiful); a romantic stroll along the Seine river; up and over the brides along cobblestone streets; the delicious nosh and nibbley: the croissant, cafe creme, onion soup (yum!), and eggs for dinner; the delicateness of Parisian style in both food and fashion; Montmartre with its steep hills, artisan culture and stunning views; famous french dames such as Marie Antoinette, Coco Chanel and Brigitte Bardot; gild and excess of musée du Louvre and le château de Versailles. There is so much inspiration to be had.

And as the great Audrey Hepburn once said… Paris is always a good idea.

I’m excited to debut our second destination for our Destination Inspired Event at The White Dress by the shore on Sunday, March 20th. We hope you’ve saved the date for an amazing afternoon of inspiration. Our first destination was inspired by the romantic island of Capri where we brought in soft colors and dreamy fabrics.

For our next destination, we had to pay homage to the destination that inspires us daily: New England. What do you think of when you think of the great north east? Shades of white and blue, a breezy and cool shoreline, nautical details (stripes/seersucker, shipping knots, sail cloth), Adirondack chairs, clams, oysters and lobster, changing of the seasons, matching pearl necklaces and earrings, Federal Style architecture, the epic blue blazer… Martha’s Vineyard, Kennebunkport, Watch Hill, The Cape and of course nearly every town on the Connecticut shoreline. One thing I love about New England (aside from all those things) is that it can inspire so many different styles— and we intend to use none of the above.

Our muse is found in one of my favorite fashion brands and icons: kate spade. To me, kate is infinitely preppy, feminine, classic and, to put it simply, perfect. What could be more New England than that? With her lady-like silhouettes, high heels, bright lipstick and baubles, kate spade embodies everything about my favorite New England fashion icon, Jackie Kennedy— who was the epitome of the classic look with a modern twist.

I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for this look. If you are a New England lovin’ kate spade gal like me, be inspired by bright colors, simple patterns, chunky jewels, color blocking, a bit of sparkle and tailored fabrics. Their brand is so consistent in everything they put together, from the classic and sleek shapes of their staple hand bags to the cheeky little message waiting for you in your new box of perfume. kate spade is about being pretty and fun!
