Vendor spotlight

It’s not every day this girl gets to play around with her industry friends to create magic… Wait, yes it is! In this case, the purpose behind our get-together was just a little bit different, but still magical nonetheless! Together with some of Connecticut’s finest and best wedding creatives, we built a photoshoot around one of our favorite aesthetics ever: the classic wedding! If you look under our Weddings gallery, you’ll see a long list of weddings we’ve been trusted to design. Each one is as unique as the couple we’re celebrating, as our design expertise knows no bounds.

What are the most prominent elements of our designs? They’re timeless, iconic, classic, personal, custom, and fun, of course! For this shoot, we set out to create something we’ve only been dreaming of, and we hope this gives you an idea of how perfect your celebration can look!

A Classic Wedding: Inspiration Board

We started our palette off fresh with all white, touches of ivory only for dimension. We sprinkled some gold for added romance and built in an abundance of lush texture. The vibe for this was, you know it, classic, iconic, timeless, clean, romantic, elegant, and fresh!

A Classic Wedding: Bringing the Dream to a Reality

From there, we teamed up with the most meant-to-be crew to bring to life what was subtly living in our minds! Brooke Allison, our cheerleader, and leader-in-excitement captures the pure essence of anything on the other side of her lens. That day was no different, encapsulating this dreamy monochromatic goodness!

The final result? Well, take a peek and get wrapped up in all the perfection!

Right before this pandemic put a halt on 2020’s celebrations, a passionate group of creatives got together to create a photoshoot inspired by things we all love: fashion, style, and, most importantly, love! Thank goodness, as the pure epicness of this modern wedding shoot has gotten us through the rest of this year so far! This really began when my best friend’s mom’s partner was looking for an edgy, female suit for her sister’s same-sex wedding. I had nowhere to turn to, and when asking my fashion guru, Beth Chapman from Beth Chapman Styling, she had one source based on the other side of the country.

That wouldn’t do, but it was like the stars aligned because Enzo from Valentino Tailors reached out to Beth, saying he was starting a new line of women’s suits. Gorgeous, well-fitting, sexy suits! Kismet!

We knew we had to create a styled design to showcase this new line! It was with this that we hit the ground running, cooking up a shoot that not only dove deep into an edgy vibe but celebrated love in its greatest form! The Goodwin Hotel is the perfect setup as it’s dripping with modern elements around every corner of this boutique hotel. A color palette of black, white, and gold not only complements the venue but creates the perfect setting for our couple to get immersed in. There was so much I cannot get enough of, still, that I’m going to note here for you to spot throughout this gorgeous collection of images:

Things I Adore About This Modern Wedding Photoshoot

  • The sheer ferocity of our brides
  • Sara Gabriel‘s custom “One Love” veil. Is there nothing this fashion magician can’t do?! I might be biased but I’d say this blew Hailey Bieber’s right out of the water!
  • That giant bow on Ines di Santo‘s gown. You can find her line at The White Dress by the Shore!
  • Our linen, which switches from black to gold with a literal swipe of a hand
  • The sleek back knot on our brunette babe created by Catie Bane. This is how I style myself when I’m going for the “casual” vibe.
  • The Goodwin Hotel — those blue armchairs, that wallpaper, the historical brick structure right in downtown…!
  • The gorgeous black and marble wedding cake by Sugar Therapy
  • Every creative involved in this shoot!!

I invite you to look through and create your own list of things you adore!! XO

There’s something about a modern, black and white, with a side of fierce design aesthetic that we love! It seems like Love Inc. felt the same way because they have featured our photo shoot that took place at The Goodwin Hotel in Hartford, Connecticut!

Designing this shoot was a treat — a slight departure from our usual approach to creating wedding specific content. While our inspiration normally begins with the venue — our surroundings and natural aesthetic, this shoot began with the couple. We wanted to focus more on their story and dynamic as that’s what the wedding day is really all about: the two people we are there to celebrate. From there, the other pieces would come together.

Check us out!!

Take a peek here and get soaked up in all the sexy, sequin goodness! Thank you to the team at Love Inc. for sharing such an inspiring day and collection of ideas and stay tuned to the blog for the full spread!

A Modern Garden Love Story

We were just creeping up on summer of last year when we received a call asking us to design a shoot to inspire events in those warmer summer months and we were elated, to say the least! With carte blanche to create our aesthetic and assemble a team of the best of the best, we hit the ground running and developed the most colorful, cheerful modern garden inspired setting, taking place on the grounds of the GORGEOUS Blithewold Mansion and Gardens. Fit for an outdoor wedding, mansion soiree, or garden affair, we’ve developed enough eye candy to make you want to wrap yourself up in this shoot!

The Inspiration + Design

Starting with shades of pink and all citrus tones, we developed a modern garden inspiration perfect for any Spring or Summer event. Of course, we are big proponents of color so we certainly support the idea of featuring this palette any time of year!

With colorful florals and natural textures to juxtapose the clean lines of fashion and backgrounds, our team produced a whimsical, modern concept to perfectly inspire your garden party.

The Fashion

While fashion is another aspect to bring in your personality, it’s also the best source of inspiration for your design because it perfectly represents you! Beth Chapman Styling and the team from The White Dress by the Shore, as always, completed our look with the most fitting gowns, complete with all the texture and romance we need. That cape! Need we say more?!

The A Team

Floral Gown + Bridesmaid Dress: Jenny Yoo

As an event planner and designer, you are constantly living in all of the seasons, all of the time. During the chilly winter months, we are looking ahead to the warmer season when most of our events take place, while those warmer months are prime for planning! Though the colder season is not ideal for an outdoor event, there is a beauty that exists for weddings and events and found in a variety of venues. Take Chamard Vineyards for example — a lush, open idyllic space to host your nearest and dearest over an intimate dinner under a big top tent. When the temps are below pleasurable, though, they have a several unique settings for your event.

The Color Story

The magic you’ll see below took place in their barn — a loft like, rustic space set with handmade farm tables and large barn doors that provide a cozy, warm feeling. With deep, moody tones in marsala, gray, and black, a touch of gold, and texture, we highlighted why winter weddings are just as perfect as any other season!

Each event gives us as designers the opportunity to create a personalized celebration around the person or guests of honor. Each element should be infused with an affinity you possess, which ultimately cultivates your unique wedding aesthetic.  Flowers by Justine and I took the idea of a classic table runner and tailored it by creating a runner of colorful tapered candles, mixed among lush, draped greenery. The gold touches on and around the table added the perfect level of romance and elegance to the room and complimented the dreamy gowns hand selected by Beth Chapman at The White Dress by the Shore.

Design Elements: Texture!

Texture was the next big element we had to have! There are many unexpected ways to bring this in and it was planned most prominently in the fashion and the cake (that CAKE!!). You’ll see our bride wearing a gorgeous Robert Bullock gown, one that we wish we could casually wear ourselves! Our sweet confection by our favorite at Sugar Therapy donned details from the gown in addition to some other elements we knew we’d find in our setting.

Design and Scribe provided all signage and calligraphy, the perfect touch to this table. Our girl hand wrote every text in gold on a textured black card, set against the wood grains of the table and painted gold china set for each guest. Even in the coldest of degrees, we had to get outside a bit. That texture was taken right outdoors where Justine created the most beautiful ceremonial backdrop with all of the greenery and moody tones!

We always have the greatest time collaborating with our creative partners and to sweeten the excitement for this shoot, Bliss Celebrations Guide featured this piece on their blog. Thank you to the team for sharing with others the joy we had in creating this!!

Nautical & Preppy wedding invitation suite in navy blue, red and yellow

Known fact: we always have a little prep in our step here at Jubilee Events! We set out to create some inspiration for a preppy, nautical Connecticut wedding. Cue all the stripes, dark navy, bold red and a sprinkle of glitter (because we love to glam up our nautical looks!).

This photoshoot originally appeared in The Connecticut Bride a few moons ago, but we recently created more content for it, as it was suppose to be in our new book, The White Dress: Destinations. Sadly, this chapter didn’t make it into our book because there just wasn’t enough room!

There is something nostalgic about summers in New England— perhaps that’s because we grew up there, spending our summers chasing the very last bit of warmth before we prepared for Fall and Winter.

When we think of summer in New England, we think of lobster rolls, sail boats, Sperry shoes and quaint coastal beach towns. Our inspiration was anchors, stripes, bows, pennant flags and all things wonderfully preppy. We peppered this shoot with a hint of sparkle in the fashion, invitations, cake, and tablescape, coining the term “nautical glamour.” Add in a little romance and a sailboat named Valentine, and you have a classic wedding that even Jackie Kennedy would approve of.

Grab your set of pearls and a blue blazer, and let’s see what New England has to offer.

Get the Look: Preppy & Nautical Connecticut Wedding

The key to achieving this look is to keep your color counts to a minimum. We chose navy blue, bright red, and yellow as our primary colors with hints of gold. We color blocked these bold colors where we could, which makes them pop but doesn’t feel overwhelming.

When I think of New England—one of the first things that comes to mind is preppy patterns! We mixed a yellow chevron with a blue polka dot and a navy and white striped ribbon. Since nautical glamour inspired us, we added in a touch of sparkle with this gold sequin linen. Mixing patterns can be challenging, but by keep the colors complementary, this style works effortlessly.

Preppy & Nautical Connecticut Wedding: The Details

Nichole Michel, our paper designer, created a preppy suite after my own heart! Make your paper fun and don’t be afraid to present a traditional invitation in a unique way. Here, Nichole created a sleeve for our invitation and embellished it with a yellow anchor and a gold glitter detail. The website card is my favorite detail in this suite; red glittery stock + a pennant flag tag makes sure your guests remember where to look up the deets about your wedding weekend!

Our brass compasses make a clever favor for our guests– and keeps with our nautical theme. Favors for your wedding are very subjective, and you can look to the following places for ideas: your overall theme or style or something that you love that you want to your guests to experience.

Our table design was rich with different details and a lot of color. We kept to our navy, red, yellow, gold and white palette and infused those colors into the flowers, linens and containers. I love the sprinkling of gold glitter, a nod to our nauti glam inspiration, and the fun nautical rope.

The backs of chairs are a great place to add a finishing touch or little detail. We added a clutch of poppies with a nautical knot, and some striped and sequin linen to our center chairs. For our two end chairs, a simple but impactful gold sequin chair cover elevated the look! If you don’t have the budget to decorate every chair, consider designing an element for every other chair or just the head table / sweetheart table chairs.

Preppy & Nautical Connecticut Wedding; The Fashion

Stylist Beth Chapman from The White Dress by the shore wanted to show versatility in fashion for this look, so she styled a variety of wedding looks that compliment our theme. From a short lace dress with red kate spade wedges, to a more classic long gown with clean lines– her eye proves that this theme is as versatile as they come.

We kept hair and makeup classic; up-dos with soft makeup and a bold red and pink lip.

Hartford Connecticut’s Own Urban Oasis

A little recipe from the cookbook of all things dreamy and inspiring… First, gather a handful of creatives all equally excited to bring their talents together and collaborate. Next, find a unique venue that boasts the perfect setting for all the ideas in your head. Meet and giddily discuss the endless possibility for what can happen in said space. Finally, bring your talents to reality!

When we first met at Hog River Brewery, we were elated to find this little gem of a space hidden in the streets of Hartford. It was everything we needed to set the tone for the day, though, and we couldn’t wait to see our mock event come to life! As a side note, you have to visit Joy and Ben immediately!! This brewery is family run and full of the most down to earth people behind it. We adored getting to know Joy and it was such a treat to be in this space!!

Inspiration for your Brewery Wedding

Our first look at in the brewery set the tone for our shoot inspiration, Urban Oasis. Inside we found brick walls and concrete floors, lots of industrial fixtures and tall spacious ceilings with a laid back welcoming vibe. Libby and I were ready to hit the inspiration board!

It’s modern, fresh and edgy and we worked to create a design that fits with the look of the brewery while also bringing it to life with organic and natural elements. We kept the color story neutral—vivid green, white and concrete grey with mixed metals like copper, steel and gold. With hanging greenery installations, a living wall, modern and fresh drapery and bountiful floral details, we sought to create an oasis inside this industrial space. The looks comes together through the talents of Ryan Designs and Flowers by Justine, along with details from a local maker, Hartford Prints and local chalk artist Jaime LaDucer of Chalk Art New England (wait until you see her creations!!) and some fresh new rental items from Peak Event Services, a division of Rentals Unlimited that is currently launching.

It wouldn’t be fresh and modern without bridal looks right from the bridal market!! Our stylist, Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore, selected several new looks from her visit to bridal market in New York weeks earlier to guarantee our look in new and edgy.

A little more on Beth’s inspiration: In order to offset the rustic vibe of the brewery, I selected fashion that was clean, modern and sophisticated. The long sleeve Antonio Gual crepe gown embodied both of those characteristics. The dramatic open back provided a little bit of edge and sex appeal. The reception dress from Blush by Hayley Paige carried through the sophisticated feel, but added a subtle touch of sparkle to signify that this indeed was a party! The deep red of the Amsale bridesmaid dress was the perfect compliment to the soft tones of the gorgeous florals.

On the day of, we were swimming in ideas and it was a blast to see everyone doing what they do best and having so much fun in doing it!! Thank you to all of our masterminds behind this shoot!! We are still dying over it (and those buckets of flowers, Justine!!)!

Last fall we had the great pleasure of meeting Kate Kudish, the events coordinator for Hickory Hill Orchards in Cheshire, CT. Her family owned and operated fruit orchard had recently opened itself up to couples looking to marry in Connecticut and we were invited to tour the stunning, 33-acres of property. Needless to say, we were inspired by the natural beauty of the orchard and teamed up with Kate, along with several of our favorite vendors, to design a styled shoot around the spring blooms that came to life each May.

We let nature be our guide when selecting a color palette—bold pinks and bright whites with a hint of green. We also added some rich berry tones and lipstick shades to liven it up. We wanted to keep the look fresh and polished, but still feel very natural and organic.

While our bride and groom shared a private and romantic first look in between the rows of budding peach trees, flower girls clad in fluffy tutus were ready to welcome guests to the main event. Dinner was set just beyond the orchard so diners could take in the whole view of the flowering trees. Octavia and Brown provided the most unique vintage rentals, which included bold red folding chairs that popped against the pink trees and the most plush, pink settee. Mismatched vintage china from Borrowed, and the prettiest pink blooms from Blush Floral Design garnisheed the tabletop. Our paper details from Patti Murphy Designs brought in a beautiful, laid back watercolor print that helped tie everything together. We carried these detail throughout our entire story—including the sweetest custom sleeves for Hickory Hill’s signature cider doughnut treat!

Of course, no styled shoot would be complete without cake, and for that we had our good friend Maria Bruscino Sanchez of Sweet Maria’s on hand with her famous mouth-watering treats, including a three-tiered naked chocolate cake with coffee buttercream frosting!

Our models were well taken care of by Dana Bartone and Company and Simply Gorgeous by Erin. Chelsea of http://www.shopeverthine.com/ took care of dressing the ladies, while Valentino Tailors outfitted our groom in the most lux marsala suit coat that fit our color story perfectly!

We’re lucky to have had the amazing Anaise Prince there to capture it all! Scroll down to see more of her images from this beautiful shoot!

From Event Coordinator, Kate Kudish: “Our venue prides itself on the rustic yet well-maintained landscape architecture and the charming farm aesthetic, including stone walls, natural wood fencing, and the classic American red barn and Ford tractor. With the option to bring in the vendors of your choice, you may design your ideal event around the ethereal natural beauty of 35 acres of rolling pastures, weeping willow trees and a heart-shaped pond.”

At this time, we all may be getting a little tired of the cold weather. On this picture-perfect day, we could not have been happier with the snow covered grounds! At Gedney Farm, Jubilee Events and many other talented minds joined forces to create an opulent wintery setting, rich with texture–wood and fur being our top two choices. Mother Nature served the color white and we touched it up with more masculine tones of navy, burnt orange, charcoal, and silver. To bring in a more modern look, we laid the furs across our mirrored farm table and aluminum Alloy chairs that were just to die for!

We loved that this design can be extended to any type of event, whether it be a winter wedding, an upscale dinner party, or other social gathering. Often times we see weddings are tailored to a more elegant, glamorous, feminine feel and having a different look for inspiration and ideas is a great way to make your story unique and easily remembered! The dark barn walls were perfect for our vision and the warm glow of our marquee lighting and signs added a pop of fun and creativity to our warm, inviting dinner table, which was overflowing crisp branches bursting out of colorful, natural blooms!

This shoot wouldn’t have been what it was without the team we had–from the gorgeous sweater dress and velvet tux our bride and groom, respectively, wore, to the custom LOVE lighting display over and behind our table to our sweet horse, Mr. Eddison that couldn’t get enough of the camera. Our approach to this shoot was a common idea–to go in and push boundaries, expose more of our creativity, and have fun!
